Whirlpool Dishwasher won't drain during normal cycle

I have a Whirlpool Dishwasher Model # DU1055XTVS which is about 4 years old.
It runs through its normal cycle and cleans the dishes well. However, at the end of the cycle, it appears that it doesn't empty the water basin. The tub is always full of water at the end of the run cycle.
Every morning I have to push the Cancel button on the dishwasher. When I do this, it goes into a 2 minute cycle - where the first thing it does is empty the water. I can hear it running out through the drain, and it sounds fine. After the two minute cycle, the tub is always empty. Without fail this works - so at first I thought the drain might be clogged but considering this always works, I don't think it could be the case.
Interesting thing I have found. At the end of the dishwasher cycle after the heated drying has stopped, I can immediately push the Cancel button, and nothing happens. I have to wait 1/2 hour or so until the dishwasher cools down, before pushing the cancel button to get the water to drain. It seems that while the dishwasher is still hot, it won't empty the water or process the cancel button push.
What's the problem? What should I look at or replace ?

As you say a clogged line or valve does not make sense.

Try running it without the heated drying and see if it empties or if the cancel button will work then.

The dishes should air dry quickly if you empty it and open the door.

It could be a defective thermostat allowing it to get too hot during the heat cycle

SPT SD-9239W portable dishwasher makes a buzzing sound during pre-fill drain and draining on all parts of cycles. Washes fine, rinse is good, drain is noisy. Dishwasher is about 4 years old.

This is normal. Countertop dishwashers have two motors inside. The drain motor is a inductive type motor. They are noisy. They all work this way during draining.

Why is my whirlpool dishwasher making a loud noise during drain, wash and rinse cycles?

They can be complicated to re-assemble. Best solution is to video the procedure (if you have a video camera) during disassembly and make notes and diagrams to orient things properly and make sure the correct screws go back where they shoud. Takes more time, but you'll be glad you did, it will save you a lot of aggrevation in the long run.

Motor keeps running. Water heats fine. Help

One of the reasons for motor not draining during normal cycle is the check valve is stuck. It is meant to return to normal during drain cycle but close during wash. I think the cancel is resetting it and letting water out.

DISHWASHER was locked now unlocked but won't run. Goes to drain/Cancel when you push the Normal Cycles

Wondering how you unlocked the dishwasher. Normally you would have pressed Heat Dry for about 4 secs.

I don't this action would have caused the problem. For dishwasher to run you need the door lock switch to operate. If door is not closed it will go to Cancel.

Check item 12 in this diagram.

Dishwasher won't drain.Leaves several inches of water in bottom of unit after cycle is complete

Check for blockages in the base of the dishwasher under filter etc.
Also make sure the kitchen drain is clear and if you have garbage disposer run it prior to running the dishwasher.

Also need to confirm if the dishwasher pump is actually operating during the drain cycle. If the pump is faulty then it will not drain. Provide full model number of dishwasher if you need further assessment of the problem. Good luck.

My Whirlpool Quiet Partner II dishwasher (DU1055XTVS) will not cycle out of the wash cycle. I've tried running it on the normal wash and other modes with the same result. Is there a common problem with...

Either the contact on the door is not flush with the dishwasher, which makes a good connection between the door and the diswasher. Make sure if it is built into a cabinet the dishwasher is sitting straight inside the cabinet. If it is not straight this may cause it not to function properly and will cause the door not to make a good contact.

If that is not the issue replace the switch in the door. Or you may have an even more problematic issue: The timer controller in the door is bad.
