Trouble setting up sony soundbar surround sound, is tv arc compatable?

I cannot get the soundbar to produce sound, it is hooked up as directed from Sony, it indicates tv must be arc ready, no idea if tv is or not, nothing provides this information. I have not hooked up the optical cable, as it will not fit in any of the outlets. Is there a specific hmdi outlet to use, none seem to be labeled as diagram indcates?

Arc ready is when there is electricity plugged into the TV,There is only one HDMI cable and that is the one you have. Cause all new TV's come with these cables. If you are using Av cables for the sound it will not work ,you must only use HDMI cable's.Cause some or most new TV's with HDMI dont like to use Av cables with HDMI,so if you havw something else that uses Av cables plug it out and sound will work.

SOURCE: proscan tv surround sound hook up

This depends on whether you have digital cable box or not. If you have a Digi Cable Box look for the red/white RCA output and connect this via RCA cable to the Red/White Audio input on your surround.

If just Basic Cable look for a red/white audio output on the back of your televison. connect this to the Red/white in on your surround. Could be called tv in or auxillary.

HI, is it possible to replace a Circuit Board in a Samsung TV with a Circuit Board that has an HDMI/ARC port current HDMI is not ARC compatible? Samsung TV UN60FH6003 reason ROKU StreamBar Thanks

Unfortunately not. The whole television is built around the mainboard.

If your TV is HDMI eARC enabled, but your AV amp or soundbar is only compatible with HDMI ARC, it's likely you'll get a sound - but the bandwidth restrictions of ARC will mean you won't be able to experience the high bitrate audio that eARC can provide. So no, it's not backwards-compatible.Apr. 29, 2020

How do I connect my Sony soundbar ht-ct 260h to my blu ray player etc, I have no optical port or arc hdmi port,at the moment connected through the audio lead to soundbar & tv ?

hook your dvd player up to the tv via hdmi, then take the optical audio output from you tv to the soundbar. Make sure to enable to audio output jack in the tv setup menu as some manufacturers disable this jack by default.

How do I connect my ht ct260h step by step, with hdmi input do I use

HDMI can be a bit confusing when first connecting a system. Overall, the HDMI cable system allows for less clutter and digital audio and video, but you need some background to get it right.

The simple answer to your question is that the HDMI on your TV that is labeled HDMI out will go to your soundbar's HDMI input. Now, the reason you have a picture but no sound, will be one of 2 problems. If your TV is labeled with ARC, this means that it has an HDMI with Audio Return Channel and will be compatible with your CT260h soundbar. If you don't have sound, then you need to replace your HDMI cable with a ver1.4 HDMI cable so that ARC is supported in the cable design. If your TV does not provide ARC, then you will need to connect the audio using the digital optical connection which is a fiber optic cable of the TOSLINK variety. This cable should have been included with your soundbar packing.

Also be aware that if you buy a HDMI1.4 with Redmere technology to save on the size of the cable, it has a direction for the signal flow which must be adhered to, otherwise the cable will not pass either audio nor video.

I hope that answers your question.

I have a Sony bluray surround sound and lg smart tv, I can't play my Apple TV sound through my hts, all my connections are hdmi and both systems have arc, please help?

Is your Apple TV connected to the Sony or directly to your TV? If directly connected to the Sony HTS ARC shouldn't be needed and you should have audio. If that's the case check the Apple TV settings to be sure it isn't set for s/pdif output. If connected to the TV then the TV should be able to put a s/pdif signal on the HDMI ARC pin but perhaps there's no way to assign it to the HDMI input coming from the HTS? It may be going to the ARC pin on the Apple TV HDMI input which won't give you any sound. Normally ARC is intended to put the s/pdif signal from the TV's internal tuner on the HDMI cable from the HTS so the HTS can play TV sound without having to tun a separate Toslink cable from the TV s/pdif output to the HTS. One other thing: Early HDMI cables do not include the ARC wire so be sure you have ARC capable cables. Look in your TV documentation to see if there is a way to assign the ARC output to a different incoming HDMI input if the Apple TV is connected directly to the TV. If not you may need to resort to a Toslink optical cable from your TV to an optical input on your HTS. Or actually running that cable from Apple TV to the HTS would be better since it's possible it could carry surround sound. Most TV's optical outputs are limited to the 2 channel sound the TV can accept.

Lg soundbar nb2020a setup

If you are currently using your sound system shown for your television sound then you need to use that with you sound bar plugged into it. You can hook it directly to your TV if you have an audio out but your tv has to produce enough output to run the sound bar. If your tv does have an audio out then there is a good chance you need to make those jacks active in the sound set up menu for external speakers. Some sound bars are powered and will require being plugged in as well.

Can't get sound out of Boston soundbar when hooked up to 46" LCD Philips? Soundbar works fine when hooked directly to iPod.

You may have to go into the settings on the tv and turn off the internal speakers in order to get audio out of the jacks on back.

Getting Surround to work

The easiest way is to hook up your DVD/VCR combo directly to the back of your Sharp LCD TV, then run a component audio output from the TV to the audio input in the back of the receiver. Make sure you hook up your front, center and rear speakers correctly to the receiver, then go through with the speaker calibration steps - per manual, then it should work with no problem. Good luck!
