We are getting an Authentication problem when we try to connect to our wifi.

The wifi code is usually on the bottom of the router on a label. You can change the code, or remove it by connecting directly to the router and entering the IP address of the router using a browser.

When accessing the internet on tablet the `Unfortunately, internet has stopped` message appears even though it is showing that wifi is connected

Verify that your router has a good internet connection and that its local IP service (usually through DHCP) is running. Try entering the router's TCP/IP address (e. g., http://169.168.1.1) in your browser's address bar to see if you can get the router's status page.

One of the more common failures in older routers is IP service dropout, particularly if the router overheats because something was stacked on top of it. This will result in client error messages such as the one you describe.

Another possibility is an authentication failure, but that would generally mean somebody messed with the wireless network access password, or there's a bug in the wireless coding (as in some ASUS laptops - this was fixed in a firmware update).

I am trying to connect to wifi available in the building I live in. It keeps telling me authenticaion problem How do I resolve this problem?

Authentication Problem is displayed by a phone for a few reason

1. Your password is incorrect
2. Your too far from the WIFI router or repeater
3. The WIFI router has too much traffic ( meaning there are too many users already connected
4. Your IP or MAC address is being Blocked
5. There is a misconfiguration on the router or repaeater

If you checked all of the above and still can't connect then there is a problem with your router or repeater

Ok I asked the question three days ago why can I get on a free wifi connection with my phone but not my tablet

The free Wi Fi router may have run out of IP leases on its DHCP server just when you were trying to connect the tablet. If the leases are as an example say one week long then if lots of people connect to the free wi fi they get a lease for one week. So if the device comes back within the week it already has an IP address assigned to it and works. If a new device comes along it has to ask the DHCP server via the WI FI to assign it an IP address. If all available IP addresses are leased from the WI FI router the device will not get assigned an ip address. Would suggest trying to connect the Tablet on another Wi FI system to test it works.
I had this happen on my mobile phone when I was in Surfers Paradise in a Coffee shop and suspected the lease time on the WI FI router was too long for the amount of short term customers using the coffee shop. (the staff had no idea on why the Wi FI was not working so it would have been pointless to try and explain this concept to them and how to change the lease time on the dhcp server) Also there is a limit to the simultaneous number of users on a Wi Fi frequency on one access point . Unless the WI FI uses multiple WI FI access points.

How do I connect to wi-fi?

To start you need to check you are entering the right password! The password is the one for the WiFi! Is it written on a card or on the router, it will be case sensitive!

I am getting "Authentication Problem" with WiFi on 2 tablets - excellent signal. Accepts the security code and will hold for a minute or so.

I see three points:
1. check if the password of the router is the same you have signed in the wifi-account of your tablets - it's typical that a wrong password is prompted with no error message.
2. check if the wifi-protection of your router has the same type (WPA, WPA2) as your tablets use
3. check if the router accepts new wifi-devices, sometimes there is a checkbox "only known devices can access via wifi"

I'm having problems with my tablet connecting to wifi I've rebooted my router other devices work fine with it it's not reading the IP address on the router it reconize it but want connect what can I d

You might have something going on in your settings. I remember the first time I tried to connect to a network. It was a nightmare. I was pulling my hair out! You only have one device to connect. I had three devices and none of them would connect until I went in and changed my settings. I hope this was helpful. Good luck.

I just purchased a Nook eBook and I need my WiFi password to make it work. How can I create and reset a new password?

I assume you already have WiFi, if you don't, I suggest going out to wal-mart and buying a cheap wireless router to get you started. Then the instructions should explain how to get the password set up.
If you already have WiFi and the problem is that you forgot your password, then this should be able to be fixed easily if you know or have not changed the password for your WiFi router. Below is a set of steps to resolve the issue. The only requirement is a computer connected to the same router via WiFi or Ethernet.
1. Open Command Prompt (in windows) or open Terminal (in Mac OSX) 2. In the command line, enter "ipconfig" and press enter. 3. Look for Default Gateway and remember the corresponding IP Address. (Format: ###.###.###.###) It might look like 192.168.2.1 but not necessarily. 4. Remember that IP Address (write it down, copy it, do something). 5. Open your favorite web browser and enter that IP Address into the URL box. 6. This should ask you login, if it doesn't, skip step 7. 7. use the username that you set up the router with, or if you didn't change it, try using "admin" as the username and "admin" as the password. Try not using a password. If you still can't figure it out, use google to try and find the default password for your brand of router. 8. Once logged in, you can restore factory settings, or change your WiFi Password.

Having more information would have been helpful. (Aka - Router Brand, Is it your router, are any computers connected to it) Hope this was helpful.
