Hard drive beeps

was your vostro 230 third generation? meaning, did it use DDR2 memory before or always had DDR3? They are not compatible. 2nd generation computers cannot use third gen parts. cpu, ram, most none of that type stuff. the motherboards are different and cannot change. if it was ddr2 memory you have to use ddr2, not ddr3, hope that helps.

Can i use ddr2 800 2GB on N150plus

Dear Urmsar,
Unfortunately you can't use DDR2 Ram on your laptop, There are 3 models available on samsung N150P Netbook series , three of them supporting DDR3 Ram only, It is the latest technology, by using DDR3 you can occupy 8GB Ran on a single slot... DDR2 supports maximum of 2GB per Ram..

Thank you

Which is the correct DDR2 or DDR3 How many pin connections are required

Both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM modules have 240 pins, BUT the notch in the memory modules are slightly different positions in the DDR2 and DDR3.
The notch in the DDR2 is in the middle of the RAM module BUT the notch in the DDR3 is offset slightly off the middle of the RAM module.

I have problem with how to identify Ram type E.g DDR1,DDR2

DDR1 RAM: Has 180 pins, typically a double sided memory module. DDR2 RAM: Has 240 pins, only fits one way opposed to DDR3 RAM. DDR3 RAM: Has 240 pins, voltage is 1.6V and only fits one way.

Can i upgrade my ram to ddr3 if so what would you recomend .cheers

Thank you for the clarification sir.
NO, the Fujitsu Scalio 600 Media Center uses the Gigabyte GA-8ISXT-FS motherboard, and it only supports DDR Sdram.

This is a PDF Motherboard Manual for the GA-8ISXT-FS mobo, from Fujitsu Support,

http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/Boards/Motherboards/GigaByte/ga-8isxt/Man_8isxt-fs_uk.pdf

This is the support page for the Fujitsu Scalio 600 Media Center,
from Fujitsu Support,

http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/consumer/MediaCenter/Scaleo%20600/Scaleo%20600.htm

Uses either DDR Sdram at 333MegaHertz, or 400MHz.
(PC2700 and PC3200 respectively)

DDR Sdram has 184 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
DDR2 Sdram has 240 gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
DDR3 Sdram has the same amount of contact pins as DDR2.

The voltage and signal contact pins are in a different place, from DDR2 to DDR3.
This is why the locating notch on the bottom of the ram stick, is in a different place, comparing DDR2 to DDR3.

So you can see, DDR3 not fit in a DDR2 slot, because the locating lug in the bottom of the ram slot, and the locating notch in the bottom of the ram stick. Keeps people from trying to put DDR3 in a DDR2 slot, and vice-versa.

You can also see why a 240 pin ram stick, will not fit in a 184 pin ram slot.

Bumping up from DDR to DDR2 does make a difference in my book. (Requires using a motherboard that supports DDR2 however, so you would need a different motherboard)

Going from DDR2 to DDR3? Not so much IMHO. The frequency rate is higher, but there is a trade off with slower ram timings.

Sorry if I have been too 'Windy', but I thought I would give you more information, than just,
'No, won't work', or No won't work because your motherboard uses DDR Sdram'.

No dubt about that! I would have take the 3gb ddr2 ram!
In a couple of years from now, when everything supports DDR3 i would have taken the DDR3, but today i take 3gb DDR2!
