You have to create the recovery cd using the Sony Recovery Media kit creator program.
It should be in the control panel. It requires 1 DVD and 1 CD-R cd. Or 7 CD-R cds.
You can however use the recovery wizard, but it will erase the Recovery Media Kit. It also can be found by using the recovery wizard in the control panel.

SOURCE: Sony Laptop wont power ON
1 CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY ADAPTER.
2 CHECK THE DC JACK IN THE LAPTOP.
IF THE VOLTAGE IS COMING FROM THE ADAPTER AND COMING TO THE MOTHERBOARD OF THE LAPTOP THEN THE FAULT LIES EITHER THE FUSE ON THE BOARD OR THE DISTRIBUTION IC WHICH STARTS FROM MAX.

You might have a hardware failure here. Specially the part when you said you had the same result when removing the battery and just had the AC in. This machine has NO POST this mean Hardware failure specially the blinking light concerns me on the machine health as far as a tech. I would say bring it into the geek squad to confirm my theory it will not hurt for them to take a few secounds to confirm this if there is any warranties I cannot stress this enought use the warranty this is your secure ticket to a fix if its not warrantied I would seriously recommend having the motherboard evaluated it should at least beep but if you do not get a beep this is NO POST hard ware failure. Thanks and please rate you experience with me postivly

You can download the Microsoft virtual machine or another VM system.
Like this:
http://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/virtualization/oraclevm/index.html?sckw=srch:virtual-machine&SC=srch:virtual-machine
After install make a virtual hard drive on your VM machine of at least10 gig. Then add your DVD/CD rom drive to the VM and put yourinstall CD/DVD in the drive. Set VM machine to boot from CD.Install on VM hard drive from within the VM machine, Type in KEY code,Bam! you now have a win xp VM!(Note: Games and stuff may not work in the VM as they do not use your video card but a virtual video card that is pretty limited!)
