SOURCE: Whirlpool duet electric dryer, not getting any power

Mine shows a faint light behind the control locked indicator and the timer is dimly lit on the two middle horizontal bars (middle of the eights). They go off by pushing various button combos. If I unplug it for a week I can get the control to work for a few minutes.

I replaced the control board, it worked for 5 minutes, then back to nothing. I want to replace the interface but would rather not waste any more money.

I dont want to check every wire for continuity. If someone has fixed this problem, please let me know.

I need to replace the belt on my Estate dryer. How do I get to the belt?

Generally speaking on front load whirlpool dryers the belt can be accessed from the rear by removing the back panel. Good luck.

The belt is broken and we need a replacement for it.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Go to any of these sites and enter your model number:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com

http://www.appliancepartspros.com

http://www.repairclinic.com

If you have difficulty locating your belt I need your complete model number and will use those same sites to find your belt for you. There are 2 different sized belts for a whirlpool dryer depending upon the model number. 27 inch dryer and 29 inch dryer.

Download this manual to help you change the belt:
https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/4829abde74a34d7f85256ab000620794/$FILE/4322260.pdf

The order of removal is the toe panel, top and then the front panel to gain access to change the belt.
Toe panel (page 15 / pdf file page 20)
Top panel (page 14 / pdf flie page 19)
Front panel (page 19 / pdf file page 24)

Make sure you inspect the drum seals (felts) and the the drum rollers in the process of changing the belt.

The manual link I passed is for the 27 inch dryer but access is exactly the same for the larger dryer.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My Whirlpool Ultimate Care II (LEQ9558KQ) won't tumble!

Most commonly, this is caused by a broken dryer belt or defective door switch. Toggling the switch with the door open should tell you is it is working or not. On most of these dryer models you should see the dryer drum light turning on and off at the switch is pushed in and released. In either case you will need to open the dryer to access both components. this is accomplished by lifting the top panel and/or removing the dryer front.

If the model number is correct, just follow these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the top panel.

3. Unplug the door switch connector plug and any ground wire that may be installed on the casing. The part number for a replacement switch is 3406107.

NOTE: At this point you can access and remove the door switch and replace a necessary. If you don't see the dryer belt wwrapped tightly around the drum, there's a good chance it is broken. Continue on with the next steps to replace the belt.

4. Locate the two screws that hold the front panel in place. There should be one screw on each side in the cabinet interior.

5. With the door shut, lean against the front panel and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, grasp the front panel at the top center and lift straight up to remove.

You should now have complete access to the dryer interior. If the belt is broken, this may cause the idler pulley (tensioner) to come loose. This is normal with no tension on the pulley to hold it in place. To install a new belt (if required) and re-install the pulley, follow these steps:

1. Loop the drive belt around the dryer drum with the groove side facing the drum. (Try to line the belt up with the wear marks already on the drum from the previous belt).

2. With the tensioner in your left hand, insert the clip end of the idler pulley into the grooves on the dryer bottom casing with the idler wheel pointing to your left. (The grooves are directly in front of the drive motor.)

3. While holding the tensioner in place, insert the belt UNDER the wheel with your right hand and pull it up and over the drive motor pulley.

If this does not explain it well enough, you can also verify by going to repairclinic.com. Click on the Repair Help link and look for the "Dryer Belt Diagrams" link under the Special Features section on the next page. Look for Roper and refer to diagram H.

Replacement parts (if required) can be ordered on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The part number for a replacement belt is 341241. All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I have listed also inlcude helpful exploded view diagrams that can help you locate and properly indentify the parts you may need.

NOTE: If you still have the teflon glide type tensioner, Whirlpool recommends you replace it with a conventional roller type idler pulley. The teflon type tensioners caused premature wear to the drive belt. The part number is 691366.

Once you have the belt installed, re-install the dryer front panel by holding it as you did previously. Line up the holes on the inside bottom edge of the front panel with the small mounting cleats on the front edge of the side panels. This can be done by yourself, but an assist may make it easier. Once you have the front panel in place, lean against it to hold it in place and install the mounting screws.

NOTE: Don't forget to reconnect the grounding wire and door switch connector plug. Without the door switch connected, the dryer will not run. Lower the top panel back in place and reinstall the two screws.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them. If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If you still need a Repair Manual, they can be purchased at Repairclinic.com. This explains how to repair any Whirlpool manufactured gas or electric dryer. The part number is 1159257.

Dryer belt replacement

To replace the belt, you have to take the front off the dryer and lift out the drum. With the new belt, place it around the drum and with the drum in place put the excess belt through the idler pulley or bracket (depending on your model), then around the motor pulley. You push the bracket or idler arm toward the motor to get the "loop" of the belt around the pulley on the motor. Hope this helps! Paul Hoffmanns

Error Code

I don't have a manual on the newest dryer like you have, but one of the models just older than yours has a F23 code that indicates a shorted thermistor.( temp sensor )
Since it is new you need to call for service. They will usually look up the code and tell you if it is anything you need to check but most likely you will need a repairman to repair it in warranty.
Post back if you have any questions.
