Monitor will not turn on including power switch

Our Dell EP172FPb monitor has finally quit turning on. A problem started a couple of months ago when we would shut down the monitor while leaving our residence for a few days. Upon returning the computer would power up but he monitor would not including the power switch light on the monitor. After a period of time, from one to 12 hours, the monitor would power up and all would be well. Each time the monitor was shut down it seemed to take longer to get it to power up. After this last long weekend being shut down the monitor no longer will power up including the power switch light. Where to begin looking? Thanks

I suspect the power supply for the monitor. Try a power supply from a working monitor. If you have a used computer store nearby, take your power supply to them and try it on another monitor.

There is no need to turn off a monitor using its power switch. Monitors automatically go into standby mode when they are not receiving a signal. In standby mode they use less than one cent of electricity per day. If saving electricity is your goal, raise the temperature in your home by a degree and run the air conditioning less.

Monitor and keyboard will not respond

It only happens with your keyboard and mouse? or does it include your monitor too? if it does include you monitor then it is the video card. It is built in to your system and is causing the problem. I got the same issue before. My mouse doesn't work, keyboard won't respond, monitor is blank. I know its the video card. It is not typical for a server to respond that way but you need to replace the system or replace the video card...

Hi,
Dell support , would recommend you to buy a new monitor because , they donot do any repairs on the LCD monitors., except for exchanging them, if they are in warranty. You can try the following people , they do repairs on dell flat panels

Monitor going black

HP's are known for bad capacitors in the power supply.
Replacing them is simple if you know how..not so simple if you don't.
Try your local TV repair centre. It should not cost alot to have the capacitors replaced.

Hope it helps =)

SCREEN BLANKS WITH POWER LIT GREEN

Look for bulged or leaking capacitors on the power supply board. If you can solder, you should be able to replace them with the same type and rating and that may just solve the problem. I've had luck with a couple of dozen monitors so far.

Second monitor - 'power save' mode.

Firstly, you can try to switch the second with the first monitor. Secondly, use only the second monitor as a main monitor and check that if there is still a problem or not. It might be because of BIOS. You can check and update BIOS with your computer manufacturer.

Half Dead Monitor

Dear
This problem is caused by keyboard switches which are bad quality they are easy to replace, so if you are able to work with solder you can finish replacement in 15min.
Good luck.
