Canon MP620 printer does not work with wireless

The printer has been used in the past with USB and I can get the network to find the printer when it is wired through the ethernet. No matter what I try, I cannot get the wireless printer to find my Netgear 802.11n wireless router, even when they are next to each other. I find the manual confusing.

Hi, Be sure to check the printer settings to make sure the wifi option is selected on the printer itself. Once wifi is turned on reboot your computer. It should find it then. Check back if that doesn't solve it and together we can continue the troubleshooting.

SOURCE: set up wireless connection canon mp620

I realize that you posted this question over a month ago...but I'll still give you your answer in case anyone else is also experiencing this.
All you need to do is enter in the correct password...the one you gave your router. Which I realize was probably a while back, and you didn't write it down (tisk tisk), so here's how you find out what you typed, way back when.
open up your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, ect...). Now in the search bar type in your routers IP address.
mine is: 192.168.2.1
yours might be the same or might be something similar...like: 192.168.1.1
only type that, and include the dots...no www junk.
once you typed it in, hit enter.
and now you should be in your router...then steps hold true for all routers I believe (mines a belkin).
it will ask for a password, most people simply leave theirs the default password, my password was nothing....literally, I just left it blank and clicked 'next'. yours might be 'admin'...a google search should help you find your routers default password.
Ounce you have the routers password, you have access to change a lot of the routers features...including finding out that pesky passphrase that your in search of.

your welcome.
I accept cash & credit. I'll send you the bill. ;)

SOURCE: Wireless printing does not work

For an effective wireless connection, the printer should be connected to one of the LAN ports of a configured wireless router. This way, every pc(mostly laptops with wireless capability) can print to the printer. You will need a wireless adapter for desktop pcs to access any resource made available wirelessly ok. Good luck

How to restart spooler

How are you connecting the computer to the printer? This printer can be set up to work on the wireless network, a wired network printer or as a USB printer.

First to clear the spooler completely, use the MS-DOS command window. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. (If you have Vista or Windows 7, right click on Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator.) Type "net stop spooler" without the quotes followed by pressing enter. Press Y if you see a warning about the fax service stopping. Then type "net start spooler" (again without the quotes and followed by enter). Then restart the computer. Wait for a while before trying another print job. If you do not enter the start command, the spooler will take longer to restart.

If this is a USB printer, try a new USB cable and changing the USB port that you are using on the computer. If you use a USB hub, try a direct connection with the computer.

If this is a networked printer, you may want to restart the router.

Another thing to try is to uninstall the printer and then reinstall it. For a USB printer, make sure to unplug the USB cable before uninstalling the printer. Otherwise, your OS may install a generic printer driver which could cause additional problems. You can get the latest software and drivers for your Canon Pixma MP620 for supported OS versions here: http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp620#DriversAndSoftware . Use the drop-down menus to select the OS. Install the full software (Navigator EX) if you want to use all of the features of the all-in-one.

Please add a comment with the details of your setup for additional support. I hope this helps.

I have a Pixma MP620 connected to Win7, but have wireless access and also use MacBook. Cannot print wirelessly to printer from Mac..........have a solution?

Make sure you have the drivers installed - while there are possibly compatible drivers that came with your MacBook, it may not work properly out of the box.

Download them from http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp620#DriversAndSoftware. Make sure you choose "MP Drivers for Network". Do not install yet, but open the package file.

The next step requires a USB cable. You need to connect the MacBook to the printer and only then start to install the drivers by clicking the Setup icon.

You should do the 'Easy Install', if you get asked for it. When the installer asks to restart the machine, do so.

Once the machine restarts, you'll get a window for the 'Canon IJ Network Tool'. Click for 'Lan Connection', and then OK.

You'll want to click the 'Register Printer' button next. You may get a 'Cancel Setup' screen, just cancel that out.

The next part requires waiting. After a bit - really, it was different for all three computers, so I can't say how long - you'll get an 'Add Printer' screen. Choose 'Canon MP620 series', and click add.

On the Canon iJ Network Scanner Selector screen, set the pulldown for "Canon MP620 series Network', and then click the MAC Address (there should be only one) and cick 'Apply'. Make sure the check mark is displayed, then click exit.

That should register your laptop as allowed with your printer. Turn off the printer, disconnect the USB cable, turn the printer back on and you should be able to use it.

Printer not detected with Wrt54g2

Fixed it. I saw another post by someone, who had detailed step-by-step the setup proceedure with regrds to wireless. First, make sure printer is connected via USB to PC and everything works.

Next on printer, select settings, then device settings and Reset all network settings.

Next, run the CD-rom, select region, and then select Easy install when main menu appears.

Nest select only the most essential drivers, MP drivers and the Canon IJ Network tool. Select & reinstall the MP driver (main driver) and Canon IJ network solution tool.

Once they are installed. Run the Network IJ tool program, follow the setup to activate wireless.

This is how my MP620 finally worked.

Hope this makes sense.

Where can I buy a replacement USB cable, power cord and setup CD-Rom and Document kit for a Canon Pixma MP620, I have the printer just not the above, ( got lost in move) thanks!!

The USB cable can be purchased at any office store or Wal-Mart. The software can be downloaded free from Canon. Here is the site for your printer:

Canon MP620 Downloads

Select the correct operating system and download to your Desktop.

As far as the power cords you may need to Google MP620 Power Cord for some online choices. Here is just one that has the power cord and USB cable, as well as ink:

I'm trying to connect to my Canon MP620, wirelessly. All my other computers have been hooked up, catch is I had the disc. Windows automatically installed everything when I hooked it up with the USB cord...

If I understand you correctly, you have lost the software?
I'd recommend getting the software for MP620 from Canon. Select the operating system in the drop down box to the right of the text "Please select your operating system to view available drivers and software" on the page to reveal the software downloads relevant for your operating system.
Then run the network install using the downloaded and installed software on one of the computers. You have to connect the printer using the USB cable once to setup network access to the printer. After that, all computers should be able to see the printer through the network. The software should be installed on all computers that should use the printer.
I have set up wireless connection to the very similar Canon MP600R before, with success.
