SOURCE: My machine had been working

Most machinary is built with some adjustment feature and I see that you have thoroughly checked for loose, missing or broken parts, so that leaves only the adjustment left.

Examine the mechanism to see how the feed dogs operate and try to find the adjustment.

It sounds as if the dogs have moved down and you need to release a clamping screw to raise it a little and re-tighten the screw.

While you are inside, check for any slop in the fittings before attempting any adjustment.

SOURCE: My fabric wasn't moving so

Hello

Turn off the power. Remove the accessory compartment located in front of the machine, if applicable.

Open the hook cover that shields the bobbin area. Please note that you do not need to remove the bobbin case.

Locate the drop feed lever near the bobbin case. Some machines have the lever towards the back of the free arm. Press down on the lever and then move it to the next notch or position. The raised metal feed dogs should be visible through the openings on the needle plate. You may need to rotate the big balance wheel one rotation to engage the mechanism on some machine models. The metal teeth will then spring up.

Close the hook cover. Insert the accessory compartment, if applicable.

Turn on the power. Try test stitching a piece of fabric. The raised feed dogs should help guide the fabric under the presser foot.

The feed dog on my bernina 1130 is not working. IT will not pull the fabric.

Even if you select a longer stitch? Have the feed dogs been dropped for darning? Otherwise, your mechanical machine may be seizing due to old oil that has solidified.

Bernini 1090 feed dogs aren't feeding the fabric. They are way down.

Are you saying the feed dogs are not moving at all?

If the feed dogs are not moving at all, there's a good chance they have seized due to lack of oil. I'm more familiar with the 930s and older models, but I assume the 1090 probably needs periodic oiling on its mechanical parts. If nothing else, try directing hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the internal mechanism where the feed dogs are to see if that loosens it up.

How can i keep the feed dogs from dropping when I sew?

Need more info. What kind of Bernina are you using? Feed dogs normally go up and down when sewing to move the fabric forward. Is that what you mean? Or have you lowered the feed dogs to do free motion quilting or darning and now they stay down?

My bernina 1004 feed dogs wont move when switch is put into drop position.

Not completely sure about your B. 1004 but in my model Bernina, the feed dogs are lowered so the fabric can be moved by the operator, like when free-motion quilting. The feed dogs don't have contact with the fabric, there's no need to move.

Feed dogs won't work

Take your machine to an authorized Bernina dealer for service.

Proper service and care will ensure the value of the machine.

This brand holds it's value better than any other brand and always resells for good prices on Ebay.

You can check the Bernina website for dealers in your area.

I hav e Bernina 1150. When I attach the walking

Hi, when you quilt straight lines using the walking foot, you need the feed dogs up, to move the fabric in a straight direction under the needle. When you do free motion quilting, which is done with a darning foot, your hands move the fabric in many different directions. Since you want to be the one to move the fabric, you put the feed dogs down and you do the work. So when you use the walking foot, keep your feed dogs up. When you use the darning foot, feed dogs down.

If you have a drop feed mechanism make sure you have not dropped the teeth down by mistake, make sure you have enough pressure on the foot, remember you should not be able to pull the fabric through by hand if the teeth are up

Bernina 1130 feed dogs won't feed fabric

On a Bernina 1130 the power on-off knob and the feed dog raise and lower knob look similar and are next to each other on the end of the machine, making it easy to lower the dog assembly entirely, without realizing it. Make sure you didn't accidentally lower the entire feed dog assembly by turning the feed dog knob: you can tell as you turn it if the dogs are up or down. On the Bernina 1130 the knob, like the power should be in the horizontal position to be working both feed and power.
