What kind of cable? Usb, HDMI, network cable, serial cable?

try to preset the channels bec,it is not on the tv button memory but only on remote.go to channel settings and preset cable channels

The RCA component cable set u are using have problems, damage the Audio connections input RCA AV connections RED WHITE cable probably have shorted out.Go to Radio Shack buy new set of RCA component cable for the replacement.

By set top box do you mean a digital tuner box? If so and your tv is a newer flat panal than more than likely you wont need it anymore. That tuner will be built in. If this is the case than hook your anntena up to the new tv and go to the menu to do an auto channel search. That should do the trick. If it is an older tv and doesnt have the tuner then hook up the box the way you hooked it up before IE if you used cable than hook it up with cable if you used it with Composite cables(RCA) than use those the reason is some of those boxes you have to set that part up in the settings and that disabled the other output so if you had it set for cable than hooked it up with Composite(rca) nada, nothing would show. Once you hook it up and you see it on the screen then your good to go simple channel search from there. Also if you use cable then your tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4 if you use Composite(rca yellow red and white) then your tv has to be on the input channel that coencides with what input is hooked to.

Usually it is channel 2 or 3.

if you can access tv menu go to settings that show source(antenna/cable)highlight cable setting and hit search/program ;tv should go through all the channels and scan them into memory. it just might be that it is still under antenna setting .try solution ,it might be what's wrong.

You most likely need to go into the menu on the tv and change it to cable mode.

No sound and a digital picture. i will assume you have no signal on analog rf cable. Thomson(RCA) have been having problem with these sets. The trouble stems from the digital cuircit board. We see alot of these. You used to get the digital board.. they are not availble.. so rca found the component on these that fail.. A VERY SMALL surface mounted fuse. With a lighted magnifer and some fine tip twezzers. we replace these fuses on these boards. Do you have any soldering experence..

Do you have a lot loose connection inside tunner. Need be re solder. Do this and TV will be ready!!.
