UPS problem,inverter getting overload

I have ups my office and the problem with that is sometimes it is working good i.e inverter is taking load but sometimes inverter is going off indicating inverter overload. If some components fails the problem has to be continuous but here it is not the case. suggest me what may be tha possible reason for this malfunctioning.

Make sure the connection that supply the inverter its power is tight. A major cause of overload light coming on is a low voltage on the battery if it is getting supply from a battery, and loose connection on the power supply. All in all if the voltage that power it is lower than what it operates on it would do that.

I have installed su-kam Invertor 5KV/48v but it seems it has time delay when the main power goes off. Is there a UPS mode switch on it?

so you post inverters to computers, why? is this a UPS, I have one, in fact serviced 100s of them and models.
time delay,? elaborate that fully, and more clearly.

my wild guess is you meant if AC power in the hood fails
the load on UPS goes dead, with it.
that means the inverter failed, and that means 99% of the time the battery is no good.
lost the manual on your UPS that it? or the service manual.
there are 2 classes of UPS, full time and part time
on part time it must switch over fast , in say blink of eye fast. 0.01 sec.
on full time inverter runs FULL time and no switch delay at all.
Sine wave USP is very good,.
the batteries can fail in 1year to 5 years.
less if overloaded, and power lost vast time, (mains)
do you know how to load test any AGM battery, using a load tester.
all USP techs do, for sure any shop that lists those as supported
why ask fixya how to fix UPS< and then get in to danger.
the voltages in side are huge, and if you short the battery out boom flying red hot metal to face or acid blowing out of cracks on a battery, SAFETY FIRST DUDE,

Our ups apc back-ups 1500 is making beeb sound with red led blinking (overload option)

remove the load fom the ups and restart the ups. if the ups alarms again then the problem is in the inverter.

Upc 900 why my overload alarme with no charge on it?

The overload circuit normally collects the current information from the inverter leg. At times when there is an actual overload, the protective circuit picked up the excess current as compared to the calculated value and thus gives an alarm. However at times when the inverter leg is short circuit or a leakage it also gives the same overload current. Is the inverter on when it gives the overload alarm? Please let us know.

Ups temprature fault

From what info you gave me. It sounds to me like it is either too small for the load, or it is in a confined space where heat is building up (UPS has to be outside of a desk office, etc.) or the rectifier is going bad and heating up. I would check to see if it does it by hooking up a small load to it like a radio or something, and if it is in the open, not overloaded then rectifier is bad,I see it alot. I am a Master Electrician and have worked on many UPSs'. Remember that if you keep a UPS loaded to it's full potential (which you shouldn't do) it will get hot. The rule is to only load it up to 80% of it's rating and you will be fine. To find out how many amps it will handle you simply devide the VA of the UPS by the supply voltage. Example: 1200va UPS supplied by 120v. is good for 10 amps. 1200/120 = 12 amps, then it is wise to add 25% more to the watts or amps when sizing them. Also, if it has a cooling fan make sure it isn't blocked by lint and is working, if it isn't working it will get hot fast. Good luck!

I have an inverter, then a UPS, as the inverter does not always keep the PC on. The inverter does not power the UPS so it cuts out after a few mins, I then have to take the UPS out of the system until the...

Hello,

As I understand your statement, Your inverter (Powerline 200watt) has the UPS plugged into it, but it is not able to keep the UPS powered on. You didn't mention the size of the load (PC), nor the wattage rating of the UPS, or the batter bank size that supplies the inverter.

It sounds like you are trying to create an electrical system with double redundancy. If this is the case, you are going about it wrong. Most inexpensive inverters will have a Modified Sine Wave output, that the UPS will detect as a poor AC signal, and revert to backup mode, rather than pass the inverter power to the load.

200 watts isn't going to be very much for anything. 200watts / 120 volts (assuming 120vac system) is only 1.6amps or so. The charger on the UPS will likely use this much just to keep the internal battery topped off. As the PC is turned on, and the battery charger is doing its thing, there now exists an overload at the inverter. The inverter will respond by trying to increase its output by lengthening the pulses in the MSW waveform. The UPS then sees this, interprets it as bad power, and kicks into backup mode.

Since the powerline inverter is obviously a 12volt unit (cig. lighter plug), then check the battery configuration of the UPS itself. If it is 12volts as well, then you may be able to connect the UPS directly to the batteries that were powering the inverter. Note that some modification to the UPS will be needed if there external battery connections are not already present. Even then, there is no guarantee that the charger in the UPS will be able to charge the internal plus an external battery bank.

Since the battery that powers the inverter is likely larger than that of the UPS, why not run the PC directly off the inverter itself and forgo the use of the UPS altogether?

Overload LED lit, constant warning tone, no load

you may have to many things plugged into the ups, it is not good to plug a power bar into one of the outlets of one of these as you are OVERLOADING the device with more power than it can produce

Your UPS is having an internal problem, it should be an inverter problem. if you know how to troubleshoot up to component level try to open the UPS and check the power mosfets. if not bring your UPS to the service center.

APC 650 Pro not working properly.

My question is how long is the battery inside your UPS? 5years ? coz sometimes you cannot just base on the voltage you measure on the batteries. dont forget about the current that is being supplied by the batteries maybe the battery current is too weak to handle your load. but if you are really sure that your battery is good. try to check the inverter circuit of your UPS. or send it to UPS service center if you dont know how to check electronics component.
