For a digital camera to view an image they need to be in a folder named DCIM
so when you are in windows it should look like (D:)\DCIM
your drive letter may not be D it is random

Make sure you have no pictures on the internal memory of the camera. If you do, format the internal memory with no card in the camera. Then, download any pics you can save from the card to your computer. Then, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase and optimize the card for the camera.

Sounds like you've added images to the card using the computer or another camera. The Nikon doesn't recognize them and concludes the card is empty.

When you remove your card from the computer, do you remember to use the "safely remove hardware" function? If not, you risk corrupting the card which is what probably happened.

Yes - when editing images, always copy them to your computer and do it there. Do not copy the images back to the card, as the camera will be unable to read them - as you have discovered.

I have a 4G Sandisk memory card which is compatible and still keep getting file contains no image data

The memory card was setup for your old camera. Try formatting the memory card using the Nikon camera's Menu settings.

"File contains no image data"

Try a new SD card. SD cards do fail.
The socket inside the camera maybe no good - bad connections.
The camera may have liquid damage - this causes all kinds of weird issues.
I try the cards in my computer reader. If they can be used all day there (I load and unload stuff randomly all day to test and then put the card in a drawer for a few days and check what I loaded later), the fault is likely the camera.

File contains no image data

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

File contains no image data

If you format, you will lose everything...format means erase and optimize. Take your card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture maker machine. It will usually read all the pics on a card and you can make a cd of them on the machine.
