Digital display is very dim

The most common cause is the failure of an under-sized capacitor on the display unit. Look at the board under the display, the component is labeled C3. It is a small cylinder with the label 68mf, 35V on the side and is attached by 2 small wires. It will probably be a little burnt or have small brown drips like syrup under it. You can buy the component at Circuit City or anything like that for about 75 cents. You need a pencil soldering iron (about $10) to remove the old part and put the new one on. If you can drip a candle, you can solder these 2 wires.

I also had success with replacing the C3 capacitor with a 100µF capacitor (RadioShack: $1.49). The previous capacitor showed no visible signs of failure.
One bit of advice I hadn't noticed anywhere above: The capacitor has positive and negative leads. Make sure that the replacement capacitor is inserted with the correct polarity.

Well, I had the same display problem, and found BrianGem's post. I checked the cap in question, and sure enough - it had oozed brown stuff out. Went to Radio Shack, spent $1.50, and fixed! Hope it stays fixed!
Simple repair job, if you are used to soldering. If not, find a friend who solders.

Wanted to say thanks. Used fix on my SVD48600 Gas-Electric Grill-Range with Convection Oven. All the Phillips heads are on the bottom. Above the oven door. Two side pieces have to be removed to pull the plate off. The upper screw holding them in is on the inside. I pulled directly away from the stove and snapped them where that screw is. No biggie. The small screws on either side of the bottom are also securing the side plates. Had a 100mf in the junk drawer. Kool.

Thanks to the Apprentice BrianGem for this fix. My C-3 cap also showed no signs of failure but for $170.00 I had to try. Presto!!!

One more thanks to the original posting. 100mp cap fixed the problem. The only extra note I have is that the broken cap did not show any sign of burning or leakage, It would be impossible to guess with this note.

Just wanted to say thank you for the fix for the dim LED display. Used a 100 mf cap and the LED display was fixed. This is completely un-related, but the convection fan would't work either, took a look at it and noticed it required some effort to turn the blades. Removed the fan and motor assembly, cleaned and oiled it, works great now.

The control board will have to be replaced. This is a very common thing I run into on these ovens.

 It is pretty easy to replace. Remove the screws that hold the control panel on the bottom. The panel will pull out and up at the bottom.  you will see the wire connector and the ribbon from the console. To unhook the ribbon, pull up on the two small latches on the sides of the connector, this unlocks it, then pull the ribbon out. Then just romove the screws, install the new control and hook ribbon and wires back in.

It is odd that this capacitor fails when none of the other do. Ironically it is a high temperature type that costs more than the generic one everyone is using. After an hour or so of operation the new caap should be checked to see if it is warm or hot. If so it indicates the cap is undersized. Note tha the life expectancy of this type of cap is 10-15 years in normal use.

Likewise, I replaced the C3 capacitor with a 100 microfarad capacitor from Radio Shack and that fixed the problem! The display has not been this bright in years! Thank you all for posting such a cheap and effective solution!
