All four doors will not open. Door locks accuate with key in drivers door, trunk is only one that actually unlocks and can be opened, all other "sound" like they are unlocking but will not open. Can lock them and see buttons go down, unlock them and buttons go up with key in door. Doors will not open.

will the drivers door not open whilst the key is turned in the key lock ?if not can you open the trunk with the key , lean into the trunk and there should be a catch to release one of the rear seats down, then get some one small , scramble through to the rear of vehicle and open back door from inside , hope this helps,when you get into vehicle check the fuse for the central locking as might save you stripping out the door panel,if fuse ok just strip out the drivers door as this is the actuating lock that sends the signal to the other doors

Many Ford Escapes have power door locks as standard equipment. This system consists of a lock switch, lock actuator and wiring harness. When you depress the lock switch, it sends an electronic signal through the harness to the actuator. The actuator moves an internal piston that either pulls the actuator hook down or pushes it up. The actuator hook connects to the lock rod, which either locks or unlocks the door, depending on which way you push the lock button. While this system won't work with a dead battery, the mechanical lock system remains unaffected by electrical power loss.

Insert the door lock key into the driver's door lock.
Turn the key counterclockwise one quarter turn.
Pull the door handle up until the Escape's door opens. Once the driver door is open, simply open the remaining doors by pulling the interior door handles until the doors open.

You have listed the vehicle is a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. The trunk is not electronic and only unlocks with the key as well as both the gas doors. Any issues here then it is your key or the actual trunk latch. If you do have a 1988 model year then the trunk lock has 3 positions. locked all the time, unlocked all the time or the vertical position locks and unlocks with the vehicles drivers door lock. If the trunk button (paddle) is loose and moves but nothing happens then the inside rod has come loose and you will have to manually operate the latch by removing the license plate and taking a long screw driver through the lower plastic bungs. The fuel flap is a separate unite and does have a manual release but you need to open the trunk to get to it. If the fuel flap stays locked all the time then the actually filler neck module will need replacing.If you have a 1997 which has the electronic release button to open the trunk (95-2003) Then you will need to firstly lock all door and unlock the drivers door 2 times. Check the fuel flap is now released, if not then the fuel flap actuator located on the filler neck inside the trunk is bad. If the trunk does not open with the remote, inside car switch and trunk mounted switch then the passenger side trunk harness is broken. Open the trunk with the key and on the right(passenger) hinge there is a grey plastic cover, remove that cover and carefully peel back the wiring harness cover and you will find 1 or more broken wires. The rear doors probably dont come w accuators in them. Meaning that the rear doors alot of times don't have power options. If you are certain that your rear doors have factory power locks then I would say it's a wire somewhere...did you try a double click of the unlock button. My two door chevy truck unlocks the driver door with one click and the pass door requires a double click. Hope this helps !

The key lock on the driver's side door is mechanically linked to a switch that turns the alarm on and off. You don't need a remote. Locking the door with the key turns the alarm on. Unlocking turns it off. I think the remote actually works through the same switch by mechanically locking or unlocking the door.

I've had a problem with mine intermittently setting off a false alarm as soon as the alarm is armed, which is about a minute after locking the door. It seems to be a problem with a switch in the trunk lid, because opening and closing the trunk is the only thing which relates to the problem appearing or not.

So my workaround, if the alarm is screwing up and I'm in a hurry, is to get out and walk around to the passenger side, open the door, press the dashboard door lock control to lock the doors, then close the door. That locks the doors without turning on the alarm system. To get back in I just use the remote or the door key.

There are Valet keys (often with a green knob) that will
only unlock the front doors and the ignition but not the
glove box nor boot/trunk.

When either the front door locks or the console button is
pressed, all the doors should lock. Likewise, when either
front door is unlocked, all the doors fuel filler lid and if
selected, the boot will also unlock.

Boot lock has three positions. Unlocked to the left,
automatic with the doors in the center, always locked to the
right. Simply remove the key in what ever position you desire.

The locks can get confused and not work correctly. Simply
sit in the car and manually lock all the doors. That will
usually get the locking module sane again.

the solenoid may be weak, or it can be lubed. you will need to remove the door panel and see how it works, and try to lube it, or see if there is any binding.

jimmy: it sounds like the drivers door unlock tamper switch or the other switch may have failed. One side can affect the other under certain circumstances. Your trunk lock also has a switch which arms and disarms the antitheft system. Try locking all the doors, make sure the hood and trunk lid are closed and then open the trunk. Leave it open open the drivers door and try to start the car.
If it's a no start. Disconnect the ground battery cable then put the ignition key in the run position in you ignition switch. Reconnect the battery and try to start the car. It should start. This usually will override the anti theft system. One issue with this will be, whether the antitheft system will remain disarmed.
Although I have never tried this before, I know that the system will not arm unless all the doors, trunk and the hood are closed.
I could suggest this to try if the car starts as I had told you pertaining to disconnecting the battery cable, I would take the switch and unbolt it from the passenger's side of the engine compartment just forward of the shock tower. Just let it sit somewhere so it doesn't get caught up in anything moving. If there is a light under the hood of your car, remove the bulb.

To carry out this procedure you need to have one working key and one key which requires programming. It may help sometimes to hold the key close to the rear view mirror as this is where the sensor is located in most models. 1. With both keys, get in the car and close all windows and doors. 2. Put working key into the ignition and turn to position 1 (the accessories should turn on) (try also position 2) 3. Turn the key back to position 0 and take the key out of the ignition. 4. Using the working key, hold down the unlock button, press the BMW logo (lock button) 3 times, and release the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock. 5. With the new key, hold down the unlock button and press the BMW logo (lock button) 3 times and let go of the unlock button. Doors should lock and unlock and you're done!! If not working try the following PREPARATION 1. Close all doors, trunk, hood and sunroof. 2. The security system must be in 'disarm' mode. The key must be removed from the ignition key slot. ENTER CODE LEARNING MODE 3. Open trunk and leave it opened. 4. Open the drivers door and sit in the drivers seat. 5. Close the drivers door. 6. Cycle the ignition switch 5 times between the 'OFF' position and position 2,(ignition 'ON', all dash warning lamps will illuminate). The red status LED will illuminate continuously, and the siren will 'chirp' once, to indicate that the code-learning mode has been initiated. ?Do No start the engine.? The Ignition switch cycling in step #6 must be performed within 10 seconds. The sequence in steps #1-#6 must be performed within 45 seconds. REGISTER/DELETE ID CODE(S) 7. Open drivers door, (remain seated in the drivers seat) 8. Close the drivers door. 9. Press and release any button on the remote you wish to register in the system. The status LED will shut off momentarily to indicate that one code has been registered. 10. Repeat steps 7 thru 9 to register the three ID codes. It is possible for the system to memorize a total of 4 different ID codes. As a new code is initialized into the memory, the oldest code is automatically deleted. If you had lost your remotes and wished to delete the lost remote ID codes from the memory, you could initialize the ID codes from a newly purchased replacement transmitter four times thereby deleting the previous ID codes from the system memory. EXITING CODE - LEARNING MODE: 11. Open drivers door, and exit from the vehicle, leaving the door opened. 12. Close trunk. 13. Close drivers door. The LED will turn off and the siren will 'chirp twice. 14. The initialization procedure is now completed; Test all remotes to confirm operation. If this doent work your alarm/central lock needs to be reset

it can't be the valet key beacuse the valet key works the opposite...It opens the doors but not the trunk. That model car has almost like a "double lock" on the trunk. If you put the non-valet key in the trunk keyhole and turn the key all the way to the right and remove the key while turned all the way to the right it will lock and re-lock the trunk to where the valet key will not be able to open it. They made it that way so you can lock pesonal items in your trunk, keep the original key, give the valet the valet key, and the valet cannot open the trunk. You might want to check the lines for the central lock system by the Drivers side door for a leak. That system is ran by a pneumatic pump located under the back seat. Does the key work in the front passenger's door? If so then its probably the actual lock on the drivers side door. Hope this helped you out.
