When you say try and remove the rear seat, you do mean through the trunk as we cannot open any doors.
This problem occured when car was driven, parked, key left in ingnition (I got it out via clothes hanger) and door shut WITHOUT locks being deliberatly accuated.
Is sons (and our) first Mercedes and a project car so many things are worn out so not surprised to hear possible bad switch, just not familiar with MB systems and the book is inside the car.
Thanks,
My rating as "not helpful" is not actually true, just not helpful YET!
lastech, you sound very knowledgeable about the MB (your guru rank is probably not high enough) and welcome your assistance, just going to have to have a little patience with me/us as my experience is with GM/Ford/Chrysler and bigger stuff.
Ok. We got one door opened by cycleing the locks about 50 times. The other doors will open from the inside only. The outside handles are not functioning even when the lock knobs are all the way up either manually or by using the key in the door. Is there some type of electrical solenoid in the door latch that has to be powered or unpowered to make the outside handle work?
Ty, Ok, will remove rear seat tomorrow and see if pump is working or intermittent or if we have bad hoses or electircal problem. Lots to check but better to know that it was under rear seat. Just really weird that doors will open from inside only even when unlocked!
Thanks. Wayne
