My True GDM-23F Freezer was cooling at -20, then we noticed a burning smell. Was turned off overnight, but will not turn back on. Please help. Thanks

you just have to change the temperature control. I recommend using a white rodgers part no. 1609-105 set the cut out to about 33 cut in at 38 or 39 you might have to set defrost time to less minutes about 5 or 6 if coils dosent frezze with the setting i gave you. the bulb of the temperature control can be placed on the border dof the difusser.

Just to make sure--is the freezer plugged into a GFI outlet and is the little red button pushed in? Is it on it's on circuit and has it thrown the breaker?Have you tried a different outlet? Do you have any lights at all- showing power? did you have a power outage? If you had apower outage and it ruined your freezer, your homeowners insurance may cover it. I would have it looked at for an estimate.Ask ahead what a service call costs, and make a decision from there.
SOURCE: convert freezer to refrigerator
Converting a freezer to run like a fridg can be done ,however it is sometimes tricky. you have to replace the thermostat, you will also want to shorten the defrost time setting. and may have to disable the fan delay to let the evaporator fans run all of the time, to prevent short cycling of the compressor.

well most t stats have a differential of 5 to 7 but almost never more than ten deg so that the compressor wont short cycle .something you can check .some t stats you can adjust the differential on check if yours has that adjustment screw on the side or back of T stat if you need more help or parts e mail me at [email protected]
SOURCE: the fan on my true
Are you talking about the fan inside the freezer? If yes, check the following items. The door has a switch that turns the lights off when the door closes, it also turns the fan off when you open the door. If it isn't working right the fan won't come on. There is also a round temperature senser on the coil inside the freezer called a "clickson" that keeps the fan from coming on until the coils are below 20 degrees, it may be bad. If you are low on freon, your coils may not be getting cold enough to trip the clickson. Feel of the small copper line going from the compressor to the coils on the outside of the freezer. It should be almost hot enough to burn your skin if you have enough freon. One other thing to check is the defrost timer. It is a box about 4 inches wide and 8 inches tall with a door on the front of it. Check the connections inside to be sure you are getting power through to the fan. Let me know how it turns out.
