I have been using w/o problems the Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1 for 1.5 yrs. Today, I used it in the morning and when I came home the mouse is working, but the keyboard keys are not working properly. No letter keys work; the number keys are reversed (1 is 9, 2 is 8, 3 is 7 etc. weather on the 10 key or keyboard row. The "0" key on the 10 key is z; and the "0" key on the number row performs a return.) The space bar is the Num lock key; the back space key is *, the left arrow key is [ ; the right arrow key is ]; the up arrow key is -; the down arrow key is =; the tab key is /; the enter key on the 10 key is 0; the enter key on the main keyboard is +; there are a few other keys that perform other functions that they are not supposed to be doing. The only key that does what is supposed to do is the Start Key. It does bring up the start menu. I have rebooted several times. I have down loaded new drivers, I have changed USB ports, nothing fixes the problem. What is peculiar is the mouse still works. Fortunately the keyboard on my lap top works, but I did not purchase a wireless keyboard to use the computers keyboard. Can you offer any assistance?

I was just about to write "I have the same problem", but i think i fixed it!!!!

background: I move my wireless keybd/mouse between my desktop and laptop units.... All was fine until a few days ago when some update completely disabled my desktop... I think the wireless began malfunctioning about the same time.

Just now, I pressed the ?reconnect button? on the front of the keybd/mouse receiver then pressed the connect buttons on the back of each device and PRESTO!! the keybrd works!!!

I just typed this entire message with the wireless keybd.

I hope this helps someone

Well i'm using the exact type of keyboard and i also have the same problem as well......especially when i exchange battery. The best way to fix it is to press the connect buttom on the back of key board and press the buttom on the reciever. Also if u want to increase success rate is to bring the reciever and the keyboard extremly close, almost attach back to back, then type both buttom at the same time :)

I had a similar problem with this keyboard. My mouse worked fine, but the keyboard stopped working. I switched out the batteries, rebooted, etc and still not working.
BUT I realized that I had an issue with the batteries ... the first battery that I put in was getting jammed and was very difficult to get out. So I checked to make sure that the spring was working and I found out that whatever kind of spring was inside the battery case did not have any spring left or was gone. So my batteries had too much space to wiggle and hence could not supply power to the keyboard.
My solution is to roll up a small bit of aluminum foil and put inbetween both batteries.

This was my problem too. I put tinfoild between the batteries to make the full connection and all is good. I guess my spring was sprung too!

I had the same problem and was very frustrated. I don't know if I ever had an installation CD. I am so happy I found this website, because solution #4 worked for me - just like magic. I didn't even realize I had those tiny buttons on the bottom of my keyboard and mouse.
Here's what I did: 1. Change the batteries, disconnect everything, reconnect. 2. push the reconnect button on the top of the wireless keyboard/mouse receiver. 3. Use a wire (unbent paper clip) to push the tiny buttons on the bottom of the keyboard and mouse.
I have replaced the batteries in my mouse many times, but I think this is the first time I ever replaced the batteries in my keyboard. I think those batteries died and caused the problem that required me to reset the keyboard.
Thank you!
Linda

Solution 2 and 3 were right on the money. I spent several hours trying to get it to work. Mouse was OK, but the keyboard was not. I even had the installation CD, but for some reason it did not work.
Everybody, press both buttons at the same time and keep them both as close as possible when doing it. After that you can seperate them as you want with no problems.
Thank you for having this site up with all of the information...

Llkrea's solution with the aluminium foil between the batteries worked for me! On windows 10, just plug and play no messing about with drivers and compatibility etc...
