It really depends on the model of Powershot camera you purchased if it can shoot Raw format or not. I jbelieve the only model available currently that can is the Powershot S120 & G16, the older ones cannot. You can check your models capability at DPReview.com for more information on your camera model.

SOURCE: canon 20d raw to pc

Have you ever been able to view the pictures on your pc?
Have you got a card reader that can view the card contents externaly from the camera?
I found the Canon software is quite as happy from a card reader as it is reading from the camera. (I have the next model up, 30D.)
Have you tried upgrading your software, or tried using a third party image program to read the raw files?
Over to you!

SOURCE: Canon Powershot A610 won't power-up

My camera stopped working some time later after being dropped.
If you are brave (or desperate), try this... I found it was not too difficult to open the camera up. Take all the screws from the bottom, sides and under the card and usb, and inside the battery compartment. They are all different lengths so keep some record of what goes where. Then I made sure the multiway connector underneath the top was firmly in place. That was all I could see that I could fix myself. And what luck! when I put it back together it worked.

SOURCE: Camera set to RAW, but pics showing up as JPEG when viewed, stored

Some cameras will shoot RAW + JPEG, and save a copy of each in a different directory on the card.

Re-check your owners manual, and also check the manufacturer's website for a firmware update...

SOURCE: When I shoot in Raw + jpeg, no raw filkes show up.

I had the same problem, basically all you need is a RAW converter, the canon software should do and should be provided with the camera and if you havent got that then there is a wide selection of free software on the internet im sure of it just search for it, or a lot easier not to use RAW in the first place...

Can't remove the RAW Setting to keep just the JPEG option without RAW. It is set to RAW and the dial only scrolls through JPEG options. How do I get access to the RAW options to turn off RAW??

When on the image recording quality setting screen, use the main dial to select RAW (go all the way to the - sign on the left to turn off RAW), and use the multicontroller left/right to select JPEG settings. See page 116 in the manual.

Why am I no longer able to set my 60D camera to take RAW formatted pcitures

Hi,
In order to select RAW mode, first check if your camera is in either Manual(M)/(A)/(AV)/(Ev) modes. Then go to setting-picture format-RAW/RAW+Basic.
In order to edit the RAW picture, you need to update the RAW version if you are using Adobe Photoshop for editing your pictures.

Thank you!

How do you change formay from JPEG to RAW?

To change the format of a photo, just rename the file. By clicking on the name twice it will start to flash to allow you to make changes. Just delete the 'jpeg' and type in 'raw'. Make sure you leave the dot in between.

Canon g9 camera doesnt work in raw only jpeg

Go to the menu for the camera and look for "SAVE". you should have the choice in which format to save the pictures. Select "RAW" and then exit the menu. The camera should now save in RAW format. Some one or something probably switched the setting (such as reset camera).

Only jpeg on raw+jpeg

This is strange. Is the camera putting the Raw (CR2) files in a different directory somewhere?

Try reading the disk in a reader rather than plugging the camera into the computer, and explore the disk.

If it's really not recording RAWs then I'd call Canon... They're usually very good indeed with photography.

How to download photos taken with jpeg and raw at the same time

Can you use a memory card reader? Connect directly from the camera may not be allowing you to specify which pictures you can download. You can get an SDHC memory card reader from OfficeMax and pretty much anywhere else.
If you get a memory card reader make sure it is compatible with SDHC cards. If you get a 4GB or higher card you might not be able to use it with some other card readers.

RAW setting

Your camera must be on either Aperture priority (AV), Shutter priority (TV), or in Manual mode to change to this setting. I discovered the same thing. One thing you might to to is have it set to RAW + JPEG. You get two pictures in one shot and can quickly upload one to sites when you need it.
