Need to wire for 220 power

Need to know how to wire the jointer to run on 220 single phase power. Per the owners manual it says it can run on 110 or 220 Help Please !!!

Often, the 220 wiring diagram is on the back side of the plate that's screwed on the motor junction box. Or it is on the spec plate on the motor.

How do I identify what type of plug is needed for hobart D300T?

This is a great mixer and comes in single phase are well as 3 phase. If you have three wires, it is live, neutral and ground and is single phase. It it has 4 wires, it has a ground, two live and a neutral it is 3 phase 220 volts.

Jointer doesn't run smoothly

My bet is that the motor is designed for 220/240 (single or three phase), but you're running in on 110 single phase. If the belt were slipping it would sound like the belt on a car (you know when someone starts their car and belt is loose and goes "Sccrreeeeeee" until the rev the engine and make the belt catch up to the pully).

The power in wood working motors is such that it should be very difficult to slow down the motor if you're feeding at a slow rate. But, if the motor needs 220 and you're powering with 110, then the motor will have no power (the magnets in the motor are matched with the voltage - and if you have the wrong voltage you won't get any power and the speed will be very slow).

Typically the "home" or "residential" tools only run on 110, but if you have a larger unit they can be wired for 220 or 110. If you bought the planer used, they may have been running with 220 and now you're powering with 110 (or vice versa). I'd do a quick google search for your unit to see what it's capable of. Or, just take the model number of the motor (not the planer) and search for that.

Typically, motors can be run at 110 or 220 for larger wood working tools. Inside the metal housing where the wire feeds into are a number of wires to connect to. These wires have numbers on them (either a tag or printed on the wire insulation) and you attach them a certain way for 110 and a different way for 220. Sometimes you can even change the direction of the motor - SO BE CAREFULL IF YOU REWIRE IT! don't power it up all the way on the first try. Just start it and then stop it while the motor is still coming up to speed. While the planer is still spinning (even though the motor is off) feed your board in slowly and you'll be able to tell which way the motor is spinning. If you get the wrong direction on your motor you can shoot boards across the shop (or out into the street if you're in the garage - like I did).

Single phase motor 220 convert to110v; do you have switch wire inside the motor

There should be a label showing the change, one wire gets switched over to a different screw, all motors are different, but all basically the same, some will not switch. It would be just as easy to run a new line to your motor and it will be right, single circuit, 220 volt,?amp, no worries., Your motor as is will not run in 110 volt mode at all. Hope this helps.

Three phase house wiring, i want diagram with electrical symbols

What kind of diagram are you looking for? Large business and warehouses have 3 Phase. I've not heard of a house. but let me know. Typically 110 comes out of one breaker and one neutral wire (and saftey ground is 3rd) 220 comes out of two hot leads and one neutral wire (single phase). 3 phase comes out of 3 hot leads and one neutral but is still 220 volt.

what did you mean by single 3 phase? single phase motor have two wire output 110-110, 3 phase gen have 3 wires 110-110-110. if only two wires here ,this is single phase, all appliances are only single phase so you can connect it here, except some 3 phase motor or dynamo. the ac current has no polarity so you can connect to it all kinds of load depends upon the amperage of of your turbine generators

On My Delta DJ-20 Byrd head Jointer I don't have a wiring schematic to switch it back to 230 previous owner had it wired for 110. Any suggestions besides calling Delta to send me Schematic

Assuming you have a standard dual-voltage single-phase motor, your wire colors should be:

T1 - Blue
T2 - White
T3 - Orange
T4 - Yellow
T5 - Black
T8 - Red

For 220V wiring, you want:

Line 1 (to Black wire from switch):
Blue
Black

Line 2 (to White wire from switch):
Yellow

Tied together with a wire tie:
Red
Orange
White

This should make it so the shaft spins counter-clockwise. If you need it to spin the other direction, switch the red and black wire from the motor.

Also, don't forget to change the wiring the switch. Most likely you will need to run both the black wire and white wire through the switch.

Air conditioner will not turn on, we taped the wires out the outside unit and now it will not turn on, which wires on the out side need to be connected??

Check your power supply if it is available by using voltmeter or Multitester.If yuor using single Phase supply of 110/220 V source.If two wire was expose this is single phase test the volt by mounting test rod of tester on two wire using voltmeter.If there is 110/220 v registered on your tester this rhe wire to be connescted mean there is source of electricity.

Wiring a stove

If there is no 220 outlet in the location where you're planning to put the stove then you need to run wiring to the new location. There are two seperate phases of 110 volts coming to your home. The voltage between each of these phases and the neutral wire is 110 volts. When your house was wired only 1 of the 110 volt signals was run to your 110 volt outlets. In order to create a 220 volt outlet you need both of the 110 volt signals run to the outlet.

If you have a straight shot between your breaker box and the location where you need the 220 volt outlet then this is not too big a deal. If you have finished ceilings and walls inbetween then this will be much more difficult.

If you're not comfortable with electrical wiring this would be a good time to call a licensed electrician.
