i just put an earth switching solenoid on mine. cuts the earth to the whole car. when i want to start car, i just flick switch, to activate earth and start the car. this is a solution if ya got no money or live like i do 1000kms from the nearest dealer.

Hello Shirley. You were wise to seek a second opinion. Sadly, some technicians who do not know how to work on a particular brand will use the "not worth fixing" excuse. I believe this is the farthest thing from the truth. It appears that the nearest dealer is in Iowa City.
