Bobbin thread tangled

My bobbin thread has started making a "bird nest" below the plate. I took the cover pieces off to clean it and when I put everything back on, I had this problem with the bobbin getting tangled up. Then an error message about the safety mechanism.

Try these suggestions and see if they help
1. Change the needle--use a needle that's for the fabric being sewed
2. Rethread the machine--top --make sure to use every thread guide
3. try a different bobbin--make sure bobbin is inserted correctly into the bobbin case, & make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
4. make sure the thread has not come off the thread take up lever
5. Clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint or threads
6. Check to make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
7. Make sure the bobbin case is correctly in the machine,, if it's a top loading bobbin you may need to have the bobbin case checked to see if it's damaged or see if the hook and hook race has a problem
8. Also could be a timing problem, and the machine would need to be checked.

SOURCE: not picking up the bobbin thread

Make sure the needle is facing the right way. If it's in backwards it won't pick up the bobbin thread.

try this site and see if the download gives you a troubleshooting code.

Babylock.com has really good cust. service, but your dealer should know what steps to take to clear this code.
If the sell an addtional information book on your machine, and stitching BUY it, it was so worth my $70 for my Evolve book (200+pages of HOW to's for that 8 thread monster!)

I hope this helped

SOURCE: on a babylock elegante the bobbin thread shows,

Have you reset the tensions for this machine, look in your manual and follow directions. If this is an Elegante there is also a set of instructions on the machine. On the LCD screen there is a picture of a sewing machine with a question mark, touch it, find Troubleshooting and touch that then find the problem you are having and read. If this does not help take it to a Brother dealer and have it reset so as to keep you machine in good running order.

I have a singer QUANTUM STYLIST 9960. MY THREAD LOOKS LIKE A TOWEL UNDERNEATH MY SEWING. I HAVE RETHREADED MANY TIMES, USE GOOD THREAD, CLEANED IT, NEW NEEDLE, NOTHING WORKS HELP

'bird nesting' is caused by incorrect tension. Start with adjusting the bobbin tension and then the upper thread tension. It is a delicate tugging match, to put the loop in the centre of the two pieces of material

Re. Pfaff Expression Lifestyle 2022 machine

It sounds like the bobbin tension is too tight or the top tension is too loose. It is a delicate pulling game that needs to be just right. Bird nesting is a sure sign of tension issues.

Bottom thread is all tangled when I sew. Top looks fine, then flip it over and it's a mess.

is it the top thread that is too loose and making the messy stitch or the bobbin thread. if it is the top thread coming down and making large loops that tangle increase your top tension slowly try a few stitches, repeat till you get back to normal.
If it is the bobbin thread that is tangling, first make sure you are using the same thread top and bottom, some will just not work together, then rethread the bobbin, if it is still too loose there is a little screw on the side of the bobbin casing, the larger of the two, turn it no more than a 1/10 turn to the right if too loose and to the left if too tight. I would make the starting point with a piece of tape or nail polish so you can get back to where you were if this is not the problem. My book says you very rarely ever have to touch the bobbin tension. good luck

Pfaff Creative Vision 5. The bobbin thread keeps birdnesting under the plate. I have changed thread, bobbin, dusted and cleaned the machine with canned air.

Just a guess, but do you RAISE the presser foot when threading the upper thread? That will usually stop the bird nesting.

What's your question?I'm using Empisal dressmaker 270D and when I sew the thread tangles underneath the garment

What you have is frequently referred to as thread-nesting or bird-nesting of the thread. Your upper thread tension is too loose. Tighten the upper tension (righty-tighty), test stitch, tighten, etc. until the upper thread and bobbin thread meet in the middle of your fabric.

The needle has got stuck and does not come out when hand wheel knob is turned counter clockwise

You probably have a Bird's Nest, as they call it, under the needle plate.
  • You need to release the needle from the machine
  • Pull your work up and about so you can access the screws
  • Remove the needle plate
  • Carefully cut the tangle of threads around the needle with a small scissors or scalpel
Make certain you have turned the machine off first!

I had this issue with all sorts of sewing machines when I was a Workshop Technician at High School. Students were often in tears when they were sewing something special for an exam!

Birdsnest and machine jams

Ok, this is real simple. pull the thread from the bobbin up through the bottom of the machine near the needle. also, hold the thread that you threaded through the needle with the other strand on the left of the needle. hold them there for a few stitches... and wahla! no more birds nest.
