Head Lift Lever retaining spring fitting ?

I have purchased a replacement kit for the Head Lift Lever Assembly but how do I refit and ensure the correct retaining spring tension ? Also the mixer has become very noisy and I suspect the gear lubricating grease needs replacing, how can I obtain a Service Manual for this machine ? Any advice welcome, Thanks.

SOURCE: Need oil/grease for Hobart 20 qt. mixer

Hi. Your A200 is in need of service. The grease's lifespan has expired. There are two ways of doing this. First, the expensive way. Call for a Hobart Tech to come and service the mixer. This will take about 4-5hrs to service at a rate around $100.00usd per hour, plus the cost of parts. He/she will need to change all seals, remove old grease and oil, check all bearings and gears for excessive wear and replace as necessary, this includes the planetary gear.

Now for the affordable solution. Unplug the mixer, remove the top cover. Gently use a small screwdriver to pry off the two circular metal dust caps found on the transmission housing, use a good flashlight to determine, through these openings, the quality, quantity and condition of the grease inside the transmission case. If there's a lot of oil you can remove much of it a bit at a time by using a wire coat hanger to which you can attach bits of cloth to absorb as much oil as you can. Once oil is removed, add new grease through these same holes until full (Chevron FM ALC EP-2, food grade lube). Run the mixer for a couple of minutes to distribute the new grease. Fill to the top once again and replace dust covers. Remove planetary, clean, inspect change seal and re-grease.

OPTION (mechanically challenging) You can do a more thorough job by removing the trans. cover completely, removing the 3 gear shafts inspect all bearings and gears, change seals on mainshaft and planetary. Remove old grease and oil, clean gearshafts and gears. Parts drawings are available from www.hobartservice.com It's free to register and then locate your parts drawings. Be sure that you have the correct files for your Model #, ML# if there is one and Spec.#, all found on the info plate.

When disassembling, take a digital photo of every step and lay the removed components on a piece of cardboard in the removed sequence. These practices will become valuable during re-assembly.

SOURCE: kitchenaid K5-A mixer ''growling''

Hi . Chevron FM ALC EP-2 grease is what you need for the lubricant. This has a Mineral Oil base, allowing for it to, at some time, drip into whatever it is that you mix without concern for your health. From what I can, tell this is the only thing that needs to be done. Clean out as much of the old grease as possible.

Goto www.mendingshed.com and download for free a Kitchenaid Service Manual that will cover your mixer.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid Mixer leaking oil

Hi Tim. Don't try to pour anything into the side openings, these openings are for the electrical brushes. You didn't state what model you have so my help is limited. Goto www.kitchenaid.com and click on the customer care tab. Enter your mixer's model# into the search window. Look for a parts catalog for your mixer. If there is one, download it.

Your mixer uses grease to lubricate it. If it's leaking oil, the oil and old grease must be removed and replaced. Chevron FM ALC EP-2 is a "Food Grade" grease, use it to replace the old stuff. The transmission housing and Planetary assembly will have to be removed to accomplish this. It's a messy, but necessary task. Once completed, run the mixer for a few minutes each week to keep the oil suspended in the grease, this will extend the life of the new lube. Good luck!

SOURCE: I need replacement beaters for an old GE hand mixer.

I bought an old GM mixer no. 30M47 with no beaters yesterday at the Salvation Army store. The beaters I have for a newish (ugly) GE hand held beater fit perfectly. I suggest taking your old beater to a store that sells new GE handheld beaters and seeing if the new beaters fit. If anyone reads this and wants me to look up the number of the new ugly beater for them, please say so before I take it to the Salvation Army.. : )

Bowl lift lever on hobart HL200 loose, can't lift the mixing bowl

check inside the machine housing the part where the handle is moving but the rest of assembly is not it could be a pin has dropped out. use something like a nail etc to block this part so that the handle turns the assembly. until you can get a replacement.

if this is not the case then a part is broken and needs replacing.
see manual at this link.
https://manualsbrain.com/en/manuals/1275564/?page=61
see part pin PS-004-15 this could be the problem on pages regarding base and pedestal you can see the lifter assembly diagram here and a list of parts if replacements are needed.
also to reduce wear on this lifter ensure the bowl holding arms sliding rails are kept clean and lubricated. if they get fouled up with flour etc this over time, plus the weight of the bowl can cause excessive strain on the lifter assembly.

I hope this was helpful.

My mixer won't stay turned off it springs back to number 1 speed so I have to turn off via plug socket

Shelly, usually this can be repaired without needing ANY parts! Its pretty simple but you do have to tear apart the mixer. Here is a link to the service manual: http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/mendingshed/kitchenaidservicemanual.pdf

99% of the time you are dealing with a loose screw. So take the mixer apart, once you have done that you will find the speed control lever with knob has a screw that holds it in place and in contact with the spring. That screw can work loose and if not all the way tightened will allow your mixer to pop back into speed one. Simply tighten the screw and see if the mixer will operate correctly.

If the speed lever is working through all 10 speeds correctly re-assemble the mixer. If it does not correct the problem you will want to buy the speed control lever kit.

This will include a new speed control lever with knob, the spring, link and a gearbox gasket.

KitchenaidKsm6573CER1 the shear pin retaining fell out

If you are referring to the pin that holds the stand-lift lever to the stand-lift mechanism, then you'll have to remove the Motor Housing, remove the motor and the three screws below it. Then you'll want to seperate the Column from the Base by removing the three screws at the bottom of the Base. You can then access the lift assembly and all you need to do is reassemble the lever and the plastic hitch (forgot the specific name) to the bar with the spring and nut on the bottom, then secure it in place with your shear pin. (The pin may have to be re-bent into shape with needle-nose pliers, and I also advise putting "Locktite" onto the threads of the six screw that are used to secure the base and column to the lower gearcase.)
I hope this helps!

Why wont my classic kitchenaid mixer switch off

Good Morning,

There is a spring inside your mixer attached to the speed control switch and speed control arm, the spring can sometimes get caught on the slide bar that is just below it inside the mixer. The other reason is that the speed control switch plate in the rear of the machine (that the spring attaches to) vibrates the three speed adjustment screws out or in and the spring will pull the speed switch (control arm that you use to control mixing speed when using the mixer) back to the stir position after you try to turn the mixer off.

If it is a spring problem you will have to do a full tear down to get at the spring and either free it or replace it. If it is a problem with the adjustment screws on the speed plate, that can be handled at the rear of the machine and is twice as easy to get at but sometimes much more frustrating to adjust. There are "YouTube" videos on the internet that will walk you through the process of adjusting your speed control plate just Google "adjusting speed on kitchenaid mixer" I hope this helps. please let us know if it does and if you have other questions just post them here and we will "FixYa"

Bowl lift arm replacement

Purchase the plastic lift lever arm first. Remove motor from pedestal with the 4x large Philips head screws underneath the back of the motor housing. Note which way around the lever is on the shaft (take a photo is a safe way) Remove split pin with some pliers, don't wreck it as you will need to re-use it. Punch out the roll pin that locates the plastic lever to the shaft. Fit the new plastic arm CORRECTLY. Punch the roll pin back where it belongs, making sure it is evenly engaged as too far in or out will make it foul. Put the rod back thru the lever and split pin it again. Check operation before you put the motor back on.

The lever on my bathroom mixer tap is getting stiff to lift and may jam up entirely can I fix this?

Easier to buy a new one and replace it. You can pull it apart after shutting the water off by removing the plastic cap (has a small screwdriver groove) beneath it is a phillips head screw, remove it and pull up, remove the retaining nut and pull the assembly apart. You can then take steel wool and polish it and put it back togethere but it will soon do it again.

Have kitchenaid 5ksm150(UK),recently purchased an

Hello KELPIES52. I see you have two postings, with some minor differences. You say purchased an “ice-cream maker attachment” in the US and my first clarification question to you is, did you purchase the KA Ice Cream Maker, Model KICA0W, or some other brand that said it was compatible with KA mixers?
If you did buy a KA ice cream maker, then it should fit all KA models, including yours. If you purchased another brand of ice cream maker, then it may never be truly compatible, and there’s the rub.
First regardless of what brand of ice cream maker you purchased, you should have both your KA mixer’s Parts List manual and both the KA Ice Cream Mixers Parts List and Users Manuals in hand. If you're lacking them, you can download a PDF version from the KA website at: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home.
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> and enter the 6 character model number, in your case use 5KSM150, for you mixer and select the file 5KSM150PSEWH4.pdf (777.26 KB) listed under Parts List (1113) (you can actually choose any file sized 777.26 KB; they are all for the different color UK models) and then check to verify this matches your mixer model. This is a good file to have on hand if you ever decide to troubleshoot and fix your mixer by yourself.
After downloading your mixer’s Parts List manual, enter the KA Ice-Cream maker’s 6 character model number, KICA0W (that’s a zero and not an “O”). Download the Part List manual and then the Use & Care Guide (even if you don’t have a KA ice-cream maker) for your future reference.
If, perchance, you have the KA ice cream maker, turn to page 5 for instructions for mounting the drive assembly onto your tilt head mixer. The KA ice cream maker’s drive is designed to fit over the spring and groove pin (stud) on the agitator shaft.
On the other hand, if your ice cream maker is not a KA model, you can still remove the collar, spring and groove pin if you’d like to give it a try. You will need a punch drive with a smaller diameter than the groove pin, a hammer, steady hands and plenty of patience. Tilt your mixer’s head up and rotate the planetary agitator shaft so that the flush end of the pin with the agitator shaft is facing you (the extended part of the pin is facing away from you). Align your punch drive on the end of the groove pin and give it a good whack; repeat until the pin starts to come out the other side of the agitator shaft. Continue tapping until the pin comes completely free. (Note the groves on the pin as you will need to orient the groove pin the same way when you reassemble the spring and collar on the agitator shaft when you’re finished making ice cream). Once the pin is removed the spring and collar will easily come off and then you can attempt to mount the ice cream maker drive on the agitator shaft. Caveat Emptor! Good luck, I hope this helps. Remove the philips screw at the back of the head, and remove the name band. This exposes the 4 screws underneath. Unplug mixer. Remove the 4 screws and lift the top off of the head. Switch and motor are right there. Gently remove the 4 wire plugs, after marking them. Unscrew the 2 screws holding the switch down and lift out the switch.
