Fix missing .dll file message.

Have you ever gotten a message on your computer saying that you are missing a dll file? I have gotten many of these messages and though a lot of people don't know it, it's one of the easiest problems to fix. dll files are basically how a program talks to the computer to tell it that it needs something. It may be something like it needs to print something. Without these dll files your program may be completely worthless. I did't do anything. How did my file go missing? This is a good question and there a lot of ways a dll file can go missing. You may have a virus on your computer that deleted it. It may have gotten corrupted some how and is unusable. The good and bad thing about dll files is they can be used by more than one program. It's bad because it may mess more than one of your programs up if it goes missing but its good because they are more widely available. Now, how do I get my dll file back. here is where it gets so easy. There are so many sites on the internet that offer dll files for download. My favorite happens to be dll-files.com but a quick Google search will reveal many more. All you have to do is go to this site and copy or type your missing dll file into the search bar. When the results return just go through the few steps to download it. After you've downloaded it you may need to extract it. If so you will need a program like winzip or winrar. Just right click on the file and select extract here. When you have just the dll file the only thing left to do is place it in the location that the message says its missing from. All done now you can enjoy your programs working the way you want them to.

Hello,I have been using yahoo messenger for a long time and suddenly it isn't my computer. I'm using windows vista. I'm trying to download yahoo messenger in my lap top again but I can't finish it....

Looks like your missing a .dll file. The error should tell you which .dll file your missing. You can do a Google search to find the .dll and where to put it.

The Norton symbol on my toolbar has a red circle and a white cross. When I try to open Norton I get a blank page.

The short answer is that your computer is infected with spyware that actually infects Norton itself, so that it cannot remove it. it is Fixable but its complicated and I'm unsure how much you know about computers. It might even be easier to reformat.
but if you do the following it will fix it.
(Disclaimer: if you are not comfortable with the following please get a professional or don't attempt. The easiest way is to reformat)

also i personally use the following sites on a daily basis and stand by them 100%

Get the Pocket Killbox from here:

http://bleepingcomputer.com/files/spyware/KillBox.zip

Unzip the file to your desktop.

Go offline until this is completed (you may wish to print these instructions).

Boot into Safe Mode and do a search for these files:

guninst.exe
popup_bl.dll
systr.dll
svrhost.exe

Delete any found, and then do a search for param32.dll

Run Pocket Killbox and paste the full file path of param32.dll in the box and click on Delete on Reboot. Click on the button with the red circle and an X in the middle; you will get a message saying File will be deleted on next reboot, Process and Reboot now? Click Yes to reboot. (Note: the 'file path' will be something like C:WINDOWSSystem32param32.dll)

Delete any unwanted icons from your desktop.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Go to AddRemove Programs in your Control Panel and remove ADVANCED SEARCHBAR, if found.

Scan with hijackthis (download it here), and have it fix the following entries:

Be sure all windows are closed, other then hijackthis, before hitting Fix checked.

A few more things need to go.

1. Open a DOS box by typing "command" (omit the quotes) in the "Run.." option under your Start button menu.

- At the command prompt in the DOS window, type the following command:

regsvr32 /u C:WINDOWSSYSTEMHIJENCA.DLL

Close the DOS window after the command command completes

2. Run HijackThis again and have it fix:

Sorry but this particular virus/spyware has no real quick fix and it has many many names.
