Right click on the desktop and a pop up menu will appear. Three items off the bottom select 'Screen Resolution' and click it. A new window will appear, in the centre are 4 options, choose the drop down menu (small black triangle) against Resolution. It will most likely be showing 640x480 in the window. Click the drop down menu and select your required resolution, the best one for your video card will have (recommended) against it. Click OK and wait for your screen to refresh. You should see a confirmation message asking to OK the change. If you do not see that DO NOT TOUCH any keys or buttons for a minute or so. If the screen went black and stayed that way you have chosen the wrong one. By leaving the keys alone for a minute, the display will automatically revert to the last setting thereby giving you the option to try a different setting. If you touch anything whilst the screen is black you may not see anything again, be warned!

SOURCE: Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit and No Internet

It sounds to me like you need a new driver for the LAN adapter that is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. Right click on Computer under the start menu, chose manage, and open the Device Manager applet. Look for your network card under Network adapters. Right click on your adapter and click on properties. Go to the driver tab and click on update driver. You can also try uninstalling the driver from there and then have the computer scan of new hardware from the device manager screen and let Windows reinstall the driver. Let me know what you find so I can help you further troubleshoot if this does not fix the problem.

SOURCE: Opening Word 2007 changes my PC screen resolution to 640x480.

Right click on the shortcut you're using to startWord, and click on Properties. In the resulting dialog box click on the Compatibility tab. make sure none of the options to run in lower color or resolution are checked.

Also check the same thing on the winword.exe file that actually starts Word. It can be found in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

I have a Dell XPS M1710 laptop that was originally Windows XP (maybe Media Center Edition, I'm not sure) and had Windows 7 Ultimate on it. I had to wipe the hard drive and I downgraded to Windows

Hello the driver can be downloaded here:

http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/xps-m1710

Or here at nvidia:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_notebook_winxp_179.48_beta.html

Please check for other drivers missing in the device manager.
Check also for the right driver, because here is 2 different ones.

Try the nvidia page first, this should work for you.

Good luck

My LG X200 works with Windows 7. Can I install XP on this model. And if I install XP, the drivers available for windows 7 will work on XP?

The drivers for Wndows 7 most likely will not work on Windows XP.
If this laptop came installed with Windows 7 it may not have Windows XP drivers.
Before you install Windows XP check the LG WEB site for Windows XP drivers for your model laptop. If there isn't any XP drivers then I suggest you stick with Windows 7.

How can I change the resolution from 1280 x 800? This is the highest possible according to the display setttings. I have removed the generic pNp monitor. I am running Vista Business. The display adapter is...

Graphics Unable to use the native resolution, such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050 and 1440x900 circuit388.gif Symptom(s):
On some displays, users may be unable to use the native resolution when using Intel® chipset graphics. Resolutions such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050, and 1440x900 are not available in graphics properties.

Cause:
The display's EDID is not read properly when connected to some digital flat panel displays. Display devices describe its capabilities by sending EDID (Extended Display Information Data) to the computer.

Solution:
Intel has released a graphics driver to specifically address this issue; however, there may be side effects to this solution such as longer than normal resume times from standby. This solution will only work with external displays such as DFP displays connected to the computer's VGA port. This driver is not designed to address issues with a notebook's built-in display (Local Flat Panel) or with TV’s connected to the system. This driver is provided as is. Intel has not tested, and does not guarantee, the operation of the driver for this purpose.
