Can't print from HP 2540 aio to my Imac PowerPc G5 OS X 10.5.8 The Imac keeps telling that the printer is offline.

The Imac won't install the HP software that came with the printer, it has to do with the architecture. However, the Imac G5 does recognize the printer wireless but when you want to print something the Imac says that the printer is offline even when it's on.

A quick look at the HP web site for this printer shows that it only supports Max OS X 10.6 and later. These versions only support the intel processor based macs. Your PowerPC mac is, unfortunately, obsolete as far as Apple and the peripheral manufacturers are concerned and is not supported.

SOURCE: i have just got a new HP wireless printer, i have

I Like the other's had the same problem with my HP J4680 and did what LMJenkins did. I have Windows 7, and it varied slightly:
-From the "windows button" click "Device and Printers".
-Right click on the HP officejet J4680 "printer properties" and go to "ports"
-Enter the IP address of the printer (192.168.1.1(xx)) and click enter
-windows 7 will do the rest. When it's done make sure that port is clicked (named your IP address), and it should work.
I'd like to thank LMJenkins for helping me solve my problem!!

Touchsmart desktop or laptop?

lots of words and means just Dead PC. fans spin.
HP model number HP touchsmart. (no model stated at all)
its dead PC and screen is dead.
most PCs from HP have external display port.
of some kind, Display port or others, the manual covers this but your PC model was not told nor service tag model. told.
The PC is dead, and seems the power button is bad too.
here are some steps used on all laptops
1: remove the huge battery in the lap top, do not make excuses how hard it is to unplug , you bought it so do what must be done,
2: use the AC power pack only, (unpugged for 1hour first)
then plug it in, this pack
3: the PC must not self turn on. so push the power button now see it manually turns on.
4 the BIOS HP logo page shows and BIOS screens work like ESC, F10, F11,
5: if screen is still dead, use the external monitor port and
the Fn+F4 button as the manual tells you to do.

no PC stated at all not even class of PC, desk or laptop. and no parts are free.
the TOUCHSMART word does not tell what you own
that name used back to 2007, 13 years long.
IS THIS AND AIO all in one PC,?
does it have a power pack that in in the line cord
is it the right pack for the AIO>?
AIO PCs only have a few parts inside that are standard, RAM and HDD, all else is HP custom, making them as hard to repair as laptops, lacking those parts custom.
first learn to identify a PC first then tinker.

I bought a new hp computer with Windows 7 os. I

Your allinone is not compatible with new OS as you have already figures out. Contact the Company..hp and see if they have an updated disc for MS7.....

If you can get your hands on a new disc for the HP AIO's they are all similar...and you can try reinstalling using it.

Go to Walmart...buy new HP AIO.....install disc..connect old AIO....take back new one with disc.....problen solved. walmart will accept all returns.

Booting an iMac g5 for the first time with out the system disc.

There are several reasons why you could be having this problem. You first need to know a little about the various "flavors" of Apple computers and operating systems.
There are two brands of processors: PowerPC (this is what you have) and Intel (what Apple switched to after your model).
There are also different types of system install disks: Specific Version (this is what would have came with the iMac originally and contains only the drivers for that model). Retail Version contains drivers and "Universal" processor code for all of the supported models and both types of processors.
Intel Macs format their drives differently than PowerPC macs. So, if the used drive was formatted for Intel you wouldn't be able to mount it, if the install disk that was used was Specific Model type rather than Retail type when the system was installed on your used disk, you wouldn't be able to mount it either.
The drive you have must be formatted for PowerPC and system installed from either the Specific Version or Retail install disc in order for you to mount it.

ANy solution to the lack of fuji drivers for new macs and OS?

4500N can't be recognize with an Intel Mac, because the Appletalk doesn't work. My solution to print: I've got a powerPC as an interface between Imac intel and fuji network adapter. The pictro driver is installed on both machines. On The Intel, The Appletalk is connected on Airport. On the PowerPc, The Appletalk is connected on Ethernet. Ethernet cable between powerPC and pictro network adapter. SCSI2 cable between PNA and the 4500. Of course, auto calibrating + eye-one color calibrating. WELL!! it works.
