Sharp R-1480 Microwave Oven made craking noise-now does not heat

If it does not heat, then the problem is the magnetron circuit has failed. Would recommend that you have a qualified service person throubleshoot/repair it. One note, if the magnetron itself has failed, then buy yourself a new oven, since the parts cost is almost as much as a new oven. Sorry.

A loud sort of "groaning" noise and no heat is the sign of a bad magnetron tube. The magnetron is the microwave source, and when they go bad it's usually time to replace the oven. Most microwave repairs, especially a magnetron replacement, should be left to professionals. There are lethal voltages under the cover, and the chance of microwave leakage if the repair isn't done properly. With the price of a replacement tube and labor for the repair, it's often doesn't cost much more (and sometimes even less!) to buy a new oven.

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, either the switch or motor or the damper door may be binding.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

Check or replace your door switch.

20 A fuse inside m/w is out. The problem could be with HV condenser, one of the door switches shorted, computer board, magnetron. Needs technician to take a look on it.
