I have a Kenmore 79012 gas stove that has been infested by mice. We have new insulation to put in, but can't find instructions on how to take the oven apart to do that. Can someone help?
These are usually easy enough to take apart if you have have a well lit large room to work in, and take photos of what you remove as you go along.
First get it in a space where you can walk around it. Remove all SMALL screws from the back and wiggle panels as you go to see where they loosen and are still fixed by other screws. Take a sequence of digital camera pics as you go. You are trying to replace the insulation in the back and sides so you only need to remove the outer panels, not take the whole thing apart.

Hi thanks for the question. the problem you are having is with the igniter in the oven. it ignites but not hot enough to burn all the gas. replace the bake igniter. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer. thanks.
SOURCE: Kenmore Oven Problem
the ignitor has to be on before the gas valve opens up and until the stove recognizes a flame, if it doesnt the gas will shut off and the ignitor will cool off, If you use the self clean setting to clean the oven you will destroy the ignitor much faster because they are only rated for about 1000 degreese for just a minute and self clean keeps it around 800 for an hour or so. You may just need to replace the ignitor.

SOURCE: Kenmore gas stove, broiler works but oven won't
Hello, I'll start by saying this may sound odd considering the info you provided, "ignitor glows...". It is actually the ignitor you'll need to replace. Being that I do service for sears I've replaced numerous ignitor's, both bake & broil, but bake being most common as it is typically used more frequently. I'll try to explain... The simpliest way to put it is this, the hot surface ignitors function like a large resistor. As the ignitor glows it reaches a value to allow the gas valve to open and lite the burner. If the ignitor is even slightly worn/off it won't ignite the burner, hence it need's to be replaced. Hope that help's explain what & why. If so please take a second to rate the solution I provided here at fixya. Good luck and thanks for visiting fixya. Macmarkus :)

It appears your ERC/CLOCK has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Oops -- actual model number is 790.7233. I'm hoping someone can help. The oven is unusable due to the smell and Christmas is coming fast.
