You must test the power cord first for open or faulty 2) test the receptacle for faulty see the diagram 3) test the power button +fuse and repair or replace.

When you say there is power to the unit, I assume there is a light showing somewhere indicating it is in standby mode. PRESS AND HOLD the power button on the unit, sometimes this works. Our Samung TV had this problem. If in standby mode often the remote is not functional and you need to press and hold the power button (not just press it) to restore full power. Unplugging and plugging it back in should also work.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

I have sony KDL55W900 TV. When we switch it off from remote control, after 10 minutes it switches the Foxtel unit off completely. When we power up Foxtel it goes thjrough full reset.

Does the Foxtel unit operate a cable box or convertor separately? You remote should be setup (Foxtel) to turn both units off at the same time. It sounds like the Foxtel unit is losing all of it's power when it should have constant power for standby.

Samsung LN26A450 screen won't work

Your model Samsung falls under a class actions settlement. These units have defective power supply boards and Samsung has agreed to pay for the repair / replacement of the boards at no cost to the user even if the unit is out of standard warranty. The set will need to be properly diagnosed to narrow down the problem. You could be looking at a bad inverter, bad CCFL lamp, fault in power supply or main board.

The backlight inverter which is also part of the power supply needs to be replaced. If you feel comfortable you can replace the blown capacitors on it.

Remote won't turn set on anymore!

Hi Smittie, I had a similar problem with another type of TV set. All functions work well except power. The solution was to replace the batteries, perhaps they are running low. It will also reset the remote which might help as well. Hope this will work for you too. Cheers.
