Floppy disk I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7, model ST340014A (40 Gb) that I would like to prepare for Windows NT 4.0. Do you have a utility that will format this drive to full capacity and have it be ready for NT 4.0?

Yes, your can format the hard drive and install Windows this drive If you have the Windows XP disk it will partition the drive also The drive must be fully formatted to work properly.
try replacing all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your motherboard to hard drive have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ? good luck
Good day sir/maam, hi, 14 months is too short for a hard disk operating span, what we do is run the diskmanager software that comes with the seagate hard disk, on the diskmanager menu, run the low level format which usually removes the bad sectored space out of the way, and mark it as not usable. then may I suggest you partition your hard drive to 2, one for windows and the the other for data. call your computer dealer if they have in house techs for service, or get the copy of disk manager for your seagate. Hope this helps, thanks
how about scanning and trying to repair the sectors with hirens boot cd. There is a utility on it called hd regenerator or something like that http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd. I think you have to download this cd from piratebay first. There is no download from his website.
you can take backup of D drive om other computer .
Conect your harddrive to that other computers CPU but make sure that your hardddisk is slave which has issue you can set slave your hdd with jumper read on harddisk.
then connect it to cpu with SATA or IDE .
Then winxp find that all partition then take backup.
AND IFyou haven't other computer you need winxp bootable disk.
Boot your computer with winxp disk then follow the procedurer then you see on screen
your old winxp for repair then when it ask for "r"
Presss "R"
thats it.
Thwen it repair your winxp then you can use easily.
I've just installed the same type of hard drive in my PC running win XP and have no problems.. do u know that you need to format the disk before it will show up with the other accessible drives?
what to do is - click start, right click on my computer and go to manage.. then double click on storage, disk management local.. and it should show up here, once you format it your all set..
No need for drivers, windows has them already, it's all generic one's the windows is familiar with..
