Maybe you have no sevice, or you might not have any minutes left on your phone.
Does it show signal bars on the screen and are you able to make/receive
calls? If not then that is why. AT&T does not guarantee in building
service. If you do have signal and it is working other than text, then
check your message center number in the device:
From the standby screen, press Menu.
Press Messaging.
Scroll to and select Settings.
Scroll to and select Text Message.
Enter appropriate Message Center Number, then press Done. The message
center number that should be there is +13123149810 (and the + sign does
need to be in front of it)
Press the right "-" button to access the Link's menu. Use the handset's directional pad to navigate to "Messaging" option in the menu. Press the center of the directional pad, the "OK" button, to select the "Messaging" option.
Select the "Templates" option from the "Messaging" menu, using the directional keypad. Select "Options" from the "Templates" menu, using the left "-" button and then select "Add New."
Key in your text message signature using the Link's QWERTY keypad. Select "Options" with the left "-" and then select "Save" from the "Options" menu.
Press the red "End" button to exit the "Templates" menu. Press the right "-" button to return to the Link's main menu. Select the "Messaging" option from the menu.
Select the "Create Message" option in the "Messaging" menu. Compose your message with the Link's QWERTY keypad.
Select the "Insert" option before sending your text message. Select the "Templates" from the "Insert" menu. Select your text signature from the list of available templates and then select the "Send" option to transmit your text message.
