FIREPLACE WILL NOT TURN ON

I HAVE CONNECTED THE LOW VOLTAGE WIRES TOGETHER AND IT WILL NOT TURN ON THE FIREPLACE. WHEN WE BOUGHT THE HOME THE PILOT LIGHTS WERE NOT EVEN ON. WHEN WE HAD THEM LIT, THE LIGHT SWITCH MEANT TO TURN ON THE FIREPLACE WOULD NOT TURN IT ON. I SHORTED OUT THE WIRES AT THE FIREPLACE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE FIREPLACE HAS ANOTHER SWITCH?

SOURCE: fireplace will not stay lit and pilot light is on

This sounds like the high temperature switch has failed and is telling the unit to shut down after it gets started, the pilot has to be lit for the main gas valve to turn on when the thermostat calls for heat, The main burner comes on and stays on until the thermostat is satisfied and tells it to shut off, you dont say if there is a blower in this unit, if there is a blower after the main flame comes on the unit heats up it turns on the blower if equiped. If the blower fails to turn on the unit would be shut down on overtemp as the firebox would get to hot and be in danger of causeing a fire. if no blower there still is an overtemp switch that shuts the unit down if it gets to hot or the switch is bad, it could be a bad overtemp switch or if equiped a bad blower motor or even a plugged chimney as this would also cause a overheat ing condition. Hope This Helps Don

SOURCE: I can't seem to get my Napoleon gas fireplace to

hello. Remove the batteries from the remote and from the signal receiving box located somewhere near the front of the firebox. Clean all of the contacts in both devices and the contacts on both ends of the batteries with the eraser on the end of a common pencil. Be sure all of the batteries are fresh and charged then reinstall them and you should be up and running. Regards,Joe. ps. please rate my answer. thanks.

Testimonial: "Thanks, I got it going. I think it took a little longer for the gas to make it to the fireplace. I did replace all the batteries though."

SOURCE: gas fireplace won't light up even when pilot light is on

Check for how clean the bottom of the unit is. I know it seems small but when dealing with these amounts of electric current they are just that "small" and the dust can be shorting out the unit and not allowing the gas valve to release the gas. Its a safety thing, they dont want gas around an electrical short "go figure" lol

SOURCE: Can't get it lit

instruction on a metal plate inside the fp bottom door
the knob will have pilot/ on/off marked on it on gas valve, you have to line the pilot word up with the white mark on valve then knob can press all the way in, now press it in hit the res or black sparker button and you should get pilot falme in a few tries, once you see flame keep the button in on valve for 30 secs then release turn it to ON and turn youe switch on

Testimonial: "FP bottom door didn't make a lot of sense. It didn't look like a door. I had to tug hard on a lower shelf up front to open the pilot hatch area."

Majestic DVR 36 RN gas fireplace pilot flickers when ignited, eventually gets to full pilot. Ocasionaly burner shuts off, pilot remains on. Also, need owners manual for part numbers. Help.

Does your fireplace have a thermostat connected? If so, that may be why the pilot stays on and the burner goes off. Otherwise, it could be a bad thermopile. If that is the case, I recommend you just replace the entire pilot assembly. It is an older model and manuals can be hard ti find. If you still have trouble, I recommend you contact a local certified gas appliance technician.

That Thermostat will not work on a gas fireplace. The voltage is all wrong. You need a thermostat that will work on millivolts generated by the thermopile on the pilot assembly of the fireplace burner. It will only turn on, because you opened the circuit. It will not turn it off automatically or at all, for that matter.

Better yet, why don't you purchase a Wireless Remote Control that has a thermostat built-in. It's a multifunction remote that will work up to 25 feet from the fireplace and comes with a wall hanger. The SkyTech # 3301TH, should work well for you. http://www.skytechsystem.com/

I have a HE20 Insta Flame propane fireplace. I can light the pilot light but I can't get the burners to turn on. It has a wall switch that is suppose to turn the burners on. Any suggestuions?

Try installing a new light switch. The fireplace is using a millivolt system and even a tiny amount of voltage drop across the switch can be enough to no longer bring on the burners. You can test that it is the switch by removing the wires from it and touching them together... if the burners fire, replace the switch, if they don't, call your serviceman.

The pilot stays on but the burner willnot operate

thormopile may be gone or your wires or switch have bad connection, try taking a small jumper wire and with pilot lit , jump out the valve on the top and bottom screws on the gas valve located inside bottom door. no danger of shock seing this is low voltage and cannot shock you , you can't ever fell it. if unit lights then check wires at switch and gas valve

I have a gas fireplace in my home. I've connected the gas tanks outside, but can't get the pilot to light. I can see the spark, but can't get it to catch. Any advise?

The fireplace probably has a thermocoupler. It produces current when engulfed by the pilot light flame. The small current produced (you can check for output with a votmeter) is enought to allow the gas valve to open when you turn on the switch to start the flame. The solid metal tube may not be properly connecting with the flame - repostion the pilot light and make sure surrounding air flow does not distort the pilot light pattern too much. OR the surface of the device may be slightly oxidized - very gently sand or wire brush it. Again check for small voltage output. If no volts - REPLACE THERMOCOUPLER.

Need Instructions to use Fireplace Gas Logs

There should be a set of metal cards attached inside the fireplace.
First you should read everything there.

I know you have to first light the pilot light.
And then there should be a wall switch.

The problem I have currently is that it won't stay lit when the artificial logs are there.
