The screen is off center making the task bar at the bottom drop off the screen while the top of the screen has lines and is blue in color.

Hi Folks....
If you are talking about the Quick Launch buttons of the Notebooks from where we usually increase, decrease or mute the Volume, the lights will be still and will not increase or decrease with the increase or decrease in Volume.
However, you do have a utility which should be preinstalled in Notebooks called HP Quick Touch which shows the bars on the Display when the volume is Increased or Decreased using the Quick Launch buttons. This application is not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit edition.
The HP Quick Touch application is available for download from the link below :

Save the file in the Notebook and double click it once the download is completed to install the application.

They just snap back on but notice if the key is broken then what you need to do at this point is by a replacment key or buy a replcement keyboard.

I can't recall on that model but I don't think they come standard with Firewire port.
You can get a USB adaptor but they are slow, slower then USB.
Your laptop probably had a PCMCIA slot on it that you can plug a Firewire card into. This is your solution:
