SOURCE: light-up volume bars on the hp pc notebook dv7 1132nr

Hi Folks....
If you are talking about the Quick Launch buttons of the Notebooks from where we usually increase, decrease or mute the Volume, the lights will be still and will not increase or decrease with the increase or decrease in Volume.
However, you do have a utility which should be preinstalled in Notebooks called HP Quick Touch which shows the bars on the Display when the volume is Increased or Decreased  using the Quick Launch buttons. This application is not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit edition.
The HP Quick Touch application is available for download from the link below :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38358.exe

Save the file in the Notebook and double click it once the download is completed to install the application.
Hope this helps....

SOURCE: i need to conect a fire wire to hp pavilion dv7

I can't recall on that model but I don't think they come standard with Firewire port.

You can get a USB adaptor but they are slow, slower then USB.

Your laptop probably had a PCMCIA slot on it that you can plug a Firewire card into. This is your solution:

How do I remove/replace the keyboard from a HP Pavillion dv7-2277cl

1. Remove 6 screws from the bottom of the case (as shown). These screws hold the accessory cover.

2. Remove one screw securing the CD/DVD drive. Slide the CD/DVD drive to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard. Remove the CD/DVD drive.

3. Remove all marked screws from the bottom of the notebook.
The yellow circled screws secure the keyboard cover, and the green one secures the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

4. Turn the computer display-side up and open it as far as possible. Insert a guitar pick or small flat screwdriver between the keyboard cover and case and slowly move along the side.

5. Lift the keyboard cover. Be careful, it's still connected to the motherboard. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector and disconnect the cable from the LED board. Remove the keyboard cover.

6. Remove the four screws that secure the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

7. Lift the rear edge of the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard until it rests at an angle. Slide the keyboard back to disengage the tabs on the front edge of the keyboard from the top cover and rest it on the display.

8. Release the ZIF connector to which the keyboard cable is attached and disconnect the keyboard cable. Remove the HP Pavilion DV7 keyboard.

How does one replace the keyboard on a HP dv7 notebook?

No obvious screwws to locate, if similar to mine, you should look at the edges, like double glazing securing bars, there are click/push in place plastic strips, small pressure with a thin broad tool, applied beneath joint should release strip to expose small screws allowing you to lift keyboard, be carefull not to disturb other components or drop screws.

Sorry can't more helpful, just be careful.

Chaning the DV7 screen

Once you remove the screw covers and screws from the front lcd bezel you will need to pry the bezel off the rest of the way. Use a nylon pry bar, or small screwdriver to get behind it. The lcd is cracked already and useless to you, so your best to pry off that from the inside. The top will come off relatively easy, but it may be a little tougher at the bottom near the palmrest.
