American Standard. A small hole was placed in rear of the toilet during the manufacturing. I suppose it is some kind of vent. I don't know why it leaks.
My Repertoir bowl has the same problem. After spending 2 weeks trying to fix a leak that wasn't there, I called American Standard & talked with Alyssa in Customer Service. She told me they had several calls with the same issue, I just needed to double epoxy the hole over to fix the issue. I was not told at the time of purchase that I was paying full price for a factory second.
I called A/S about mine a couple years back - and they said that the hole is there to relieve internal pressure when the unit is being fired.
The reason that water is leaking is because something is cracked on the inside. They replaced the toilet with no questions asked.

If you go with the 2 bolt you will need (I presume) to drill 2 holes into the tile.
put toilet in place where it will sit and mark the holes , take away toilet and drill the holes with a 7ml tile drill bit (masking tape put over the tile will help you to not slip when starting off the hole). Drill deep enough to insert 7ml rawl plugs. then place the toilet back and fix down with screws long enough to go through the toilet and 3/4 of the rawl plug.
You will need;
Electric percussion drill or descent battery drill.
7 ml tile drill bit
2 x rawl plug 7ml
2 x screw
masking tape is handy

Did you try calling or emailing the parts dept. at american standard? I am not sure if they just sell the gasket. American standard parts are certainly different from most toilets. I looked on ebay, not much for american standard toilets. Were you able to remove the four screws and get the sealer under the gasket.? I will do some more research for you and try to find parts. take care, andy
EITHER THE FLAPPER IS NOT PROPERLY ADJUSTED OR YOU WILL NEED A NEW FLAPPER. WATER IS SLOWLY LEAKING BETWEEN FLAPPER AND SEAT. AS WATER LEVEL DROPS ,TOILET WILL RUN TO BRING WATER LEVEL BACK TO PROPER HEIGHT.
The hole your refering to is common in the manufacturing of toilets and is generally filled before it leaves the manufacturing. I have repaired several toilets, new toilets, all American Standard, using a good grade of epoxy - not silicone. I used West System epoxy as this is made for marine projects and surprisingly states "toilet repair" as one of the uses of their product. I'd suggest carefully chipping the smooth porcelan around the hole to give the epoxy something to grip. Use a knife or screwdriver to gently chip the edges and make sure the area is dry. Press the epoxy into the hole and give it enough time to cure before putting it back in service. Of course, if the toilet is less than a month old I suggest returning it and getting a new toilet.
After working for ROTO-ROOTER for 20 + years, I have come across this problem more than twice. There are many problems that can be included, but let's start with the most simple and go from there. Step 1... Check your roof vent to see if it is obstructed with debris, such as birds nest, frozen ice, dead animal...etc..... To check this you must go onto the roof and find the sewer vent(it is not hard to find as it smells like sewer). Visually look into the vent even using a flashlight to make sure there is nothing obstructing the vent pipe. certain things can clog your vent such as Debris,Birbs Nest, Ice, dead animal,Etc..A drain line needs a air vent so water can flow....If nothing is visually seen , have someone flush the stool. If you cannot see any obstructions and HEAR THE FLUSH, Your Vent is okay. Check out plumbing and venting on the internet for more reference. If this is not your problem then you must pull the stool and see if there is an object stuck in the toilet......Comb, toothbrush, Etc... The best way is to pull the stool from the floor and look from the bottom of the toilet to see if there is an object stuck inside the stool.Turn off the water supply and disconnect it from the tank. Go to your local hardware store and buy 2 wax rings with plastic flanges and a set of flange bolts(these are cheap and can be returned if not used).Turn off the water supply to the toilet tank and flush it to drain all the water from the tank and the stool. You can use a shop vac or an old towel to remove the water. After removing the stool, lay it on its side and look from the bottom to see if there are any obstructions. You may need a mirror and flashlight to see inside the gooseneck of the stool. If you cannot see any obstructions, you can try to dump a 5 gallon bucket of water through the bottom of the stool to push the object out the way it entered. NOTE: When reinstalli8ng the stool, be careful not to over-tighten the floor flange bolts as you might crack the toilet......Joe
The tank holding the proper amount of water is a good sign. The inside of the stool is like the GOOSE NECK under you sink. It always holds water. This may sound like a bit of a hassle to do but if all 3 toilets are identical, here is what you can try if you are a bit handy. Go to the hardware store and purchase 4 toilet wax rings with a plastic flange and a few sets of toilet floor flange bolts(they are cheap and you can always return if not used, as It is better to have xtra parts on hand). Turn off the water supply to the "Mystery Toilet". Leave the tank and everything connected to the stool. Flush the toilet and remove all excess water from the tank and bowl. This can be done with a shop vac, sponge or towel. Disconnect the water supply to the tank. Remove the bolts holding the stool to the floor and carefully remove toilet. Scrap off all the old wax from the floor flange and bottom of stool. Now go and repeat this proceedure to one of the toilets that is working properly. In other words Switch the "Mystery Toilet" with a "Working Toilet" and see how they react. If the working toilet does it in the same bathroom and the "Mystery Toilet" does not do it in the other bathroom then you probably have a VENTING PROBLEM. If the "Mysery Toilet" Does it in the other bathroom then you most likely have a Defective Toilet. This Job is best done by 2 people, as it can sometimes be challenging to center the new wax ring on the toilet flange. Reconnect to the floor and reconnect water supply to the tanks. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BOLTS to the floor flange as you may crack the toilet. All drain lines must be vented properly for water to flow. If you are curious check out drain venting on the internet. Also, sometimes a vent can become obstructed with debris, ice, bird nest, etc.. I would 1st check the vent on the roof visually and then have someone flush and listen. If you believe the vent is clear....Then do the toilet switch and go from there.....Hope this helps and Happy Holidays....Joe
I have the American Standard Champion 4 toilet. Water is leaking from the tank to the bowl causing the toilet to refill. I've replaced the flapper and cleaned the surface the flapper contact. Nothing seems to work.
