I had my Zune 4GB on hold when it was plug into the computer to recharge the battery and now the unit does not display anything and is not charging up, I try to turn the On Off button back and fore but that is not working. When I plug back into the computer the Zune still does not turn on or there is no display on the unit.

SOURCE: zune charging problems, hardware problems

the charge time for the zune is about three hours, as for the seeing if its charging in the lower right hand part of the screen the battery icon will have a lighting bolt in the battery to show its charging, and when fully charged it will turn green

I'm assuming the Zune is new(at least to you).

You can download the software at www.zune.net Most likely it will update your Zune the first time you run it. Just follow the directions, it's pretty simple. Any music or video content on your computer will by default upload to the Zune as well. You can rip CDs and load them on the Zune by just popping them in your drive and letting it go by default.

I have a 30g Zune which has not been holding a charge for a couple of weeks. This morning the Zune powers up and then shuts off (even while plugged in). I tried the 'hold down the back button and up at the...

Hi,

I am not sure if this is gonna work but, since you've tried all other steps why dont we give this a try too...LOL :-)

To troubleshoot this issue, try one or more of the following methods in the order in which they are listed:
  1. Let your Zune device charge for 30 minutes, then disconnect and reconnect the cable to turn on the player. It can take up to 3 hours to fully charge.
  2. Connect the Zune device to a different USB port on the computer. Use a USB port on the back of the computer. Do not use a USB hub.
  3. Use another supported high power source, such as an Xbox 360 console, a Zune AC Adapter, a Zune Car Charger, or a Zune FM Transmitter/Charger.

Note These devices are sold separately.
  4. If you are connecting your Zune device to a mobile computer, make sure that the mobile computer is plugged in and is not running on battery power. Many mobile computers are configured to conserve power when they are running on battery power to extend battery life. This behavior may affect Zune device charging.
  5. If the Zune device is charging slowly, be aware that, for optimal charging, the Zune device requires at least 500 milliamps (mA) of power. Frequently, USB ports that are located on the front of a computer and on some USB hubs are low-power, 100-mA ports. Typically, the high-power, 500-mA USB ports are on the back of the computer. Additionally, when you suspend the computer or put the computer to sleep, high-power USB ports may be switched to low-power, 100 mA mode.
  6. If the device boots to the home screen but is still not charging correctly, continue with the "Home screen is displayed" steps in the following section.

If the device continues to display the full-screen charging icon, continue with "Full-screen charging icon is displayed."
  7. If the battery in the device still does not charge correctly, visit the following Web site to sign in and register your device: http://service.zune.net (http://service.zune.net)

At this Web site, you can submit a request for service if your device qualifies for service.

My Zune 4gb won't sync with my software and will not charge

Hi,

I had a similar problem with my 30GB Zune. The first normal solution is to make sure that the USB port is providing enough power to the Zune to charge it by trying a different port or computer, but since your other Zune charges it is likely not the problem.

Other possibly solutions are performing a hard reset on the Zune (hold back and up until it resets), or allowing the zone to completely discharge and try again. In my case, none of these solutions worked and I was forced to send my Zune in for a new battery, which Microsoft was willing to replace for free.

I want to put some music on my zune, but it will not register as being plugged in or turn on.

I let it sit overnight and plugged it into my computer, while my computer was plugged in, and it turned on.

Frozen 4gb zune.

i had this problem too, i would plug the zune into the computer trough usb cord, and have your zune home page come up automatically if it doesnt click the zune software shortcut. Go to top corner and go to settings, after that go to device and syce options. finally you need to press erase all content and your zune will be clean and rebooted up. when i did this my zune turned on and was back to normal, the only thing that sucked was that it took so long for me to figure this out and i had to syce everything back on my zune agian

e mail me if you have anymore questions at [email protected]
i can also help you with many other microsoft problems

hope this helps

My zune just stopped working

run the battery completey dead or you could possibly reset the device to factory default...

Try this....
Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad.
Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.

Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.

Hope this helps!

Zune won't turn on or charge

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
