Line # 1 is shorted out in main control box. Is there any way to make what was formally line #1 use the second line in the main box, then use line #3 in the main box for line #2

We have a Norstar Meridian phone system with two outside lines running into the main control box. Originally the two outside lines were plugged into lines 1 and 2 in the control box. Recently line 1 in the control box has shorted out and does not function properly. I have moved the plugs from the lines outside from line one into the line two in the control box and line two into the line three slots in the main box. I now can receive calls on both lines at any of our eleven phones (m7310's and M7208's). However, calls on line one flash on line two and calls on line 2 are lost in space. Can I reprogram the telephones that use line one button to identify with and to use calls coming in on line 2 in the control box as line one and line 2 button to receiver calls that come to the control box on line 3?

Maybe, we can simlify this a bit. The system's master panel has space for eight outside lines. How do you program the M7310 phones to accept additional outside lines?

I am not sure what if anything this has to do with solving my problem. Master panel has only one light and it is red and on, indicating it has power.

How do you know if the electronic module in the thermostat box is working properly

The main circuit board is the control you refer to. The temperature thermistor (formally called a thermostat) is a separate part. It is a temperature input to the main circuit board's computer.
