Generally speaking....the Sharp Blu-ray is working just fine. The problem is you are not using commercially made programs or movies that are universal and burned for use in a standard player. When a COPY of a Movie is made on a home burner; the speed and other factors may not be consistent with commercial values. In lieu of a BR disc.; try using a USB Thumb Drive in your TV or Computer. Just go to Torrenting . com for free movies; download your selections, and copy the data to the USB drive. Then put the USB drive into the Computer or TV and enjoy. It is cheaper than burning a disc and you can erase the USB device and use it over and over again. Good luck the BentonComputerDoctor at Hotmail.

Hi.
On order to make an external hard drive readable from a dvd player you need to reformat the hard drive to fat32 format. Most DVD players are only able to read drives formatted in the FAT32 system,
To format the ext hard drive to Fat32 you will need to connect it to your computer first to carry out the formatting.
1) Click "Start" then "Run"
2) Type "CMD" into the text box, then press "Enter."
3) Type "Format /FS:FAT32 X:" into the command prompt, replacing the letter "X" with the actual drive letter of your USB hard drive. If you do not know the drive letter of your hard drive, open "My Computer" and look under "Devices with removable storage." BE SURE YOU HAVE SELECTED THE CORRECT DRIVE LETTER TO FORMAT. Then press "Enter".
4) Press "Y" when you have identified the correct drive and you are ready to format the hard drive. All data present on the drive will be erased once it has been formatted. The drive will now be formatted to FAT 32
5) Load the films onto the USB hard drive. Be aware FAT32 file system cannot support files larger than four gigabytes.
6) Connect the ext hard drive to your DVD player via usb and select "USB Device" or it may be labelled as external device. Your DVD player should recognise the device and play the films.

I'm sure you probably have done this but i gotta ask!
When using usb there's enough power to run the usb key. When using 2.5inch hard drive the usb has enough power to run it. When using a 500gig you will need a separate powersource for it so check to make sure thats the case.
Also, a lot of these dvds will will only work with ide external harddrives and not sata external ones so make sure you use ide drives only.
good luck

SOURCE: Will not play blu-ray disc's
Are you able to play other discs on your player? Did you get your discs from a reputable distributor? and not at a flee market? Could be that your discs aren't giving the proper signals.

Try to unplug the player for a few seconds and then plug it back. It should work again with the DivX files. I had an identical problem and since then, it works just fine.
