I have a Whirlpool gas dryer, it starts up fine, it will heat for approximately 10-15 minutes and the flame goes out. After a cool down period of 20 minutes or so, it starts up again and the same repeats itself. I have cleaned out the duct and the whole dryer itself, and I have replaced the 2 thermostats , but the problem persists, can you tell me what the problem could be.
Thanks, Tony
f it is an electric type look for:
1. Safety device has malfunctioned or is the non-resetable type and must be replaced.
2. The timer has malfunctioned. Needs replaced.
3. Element(s) have burnt out or a wire has burnt off to the element(s) or some become disconnected.
4. Possible loss of full power. Be sure you have the proper voltage going to the unit.
5. Clogged exhaust system causing safety to activate, thus, no heat.
I would look here before going any farther.
Please keep in mind that repair by a tech may cost more that purchasing a new unit.
you need a new agnitor for your dryer take the model # to order part and install very carfully good luck

Hi Tony, The next thing I would checnge would be the coils on top the gas valve. The tend to not open after the get hot. This is a very common problem with the newer gas dryers. I hope this helps you. Let me know if I can help you further.
Thanks
Vic

Problem is your gas solenoid coils. When they get worn they will open til they get out then shut. They will need to be replaced.

I just replaced the coils,.... now the gas does not fire up. At least before it went on for about 15 minutes, and then go off , I would wait and start over. Now after replacing the 2 thermostats and the coils the problem has gotten worse , what else can be the problem?
