Heat cycle stops/goes off

I have a Whirlpool gas dryer, it starts up fine, it will heat for approximately 10-15 minutes and the flame goes out. After a cool down period of 20 minutes or so, it starts up again and the same repeats itself. I have cleaned out the duct and the whole dryer itself, and I have replaced the 2 thermostats , but the problem persists, can you tell me what the problem could be.
Thanks, Tony

I just replaced the coils,.... now the gas does not fire up. At least before it went on for about 15 minutes, and then go off , I would wait and start over. Now after replacing the 2 thermostats and the coils the problem has gotten worse , what else can be the problem?

f it is an electric type look for:

    1. Safety device has malfunctioned or is the non-resetable type and must be replaced.

    2. The timer has malfunctioned. Needs replaced.

    3. Element(s) have burnt out or a wire has burnt off to the element(s) or some become disconnected.

    4. Possible loss of full power. Be sure you have the proper voltage going to the unit.

    5. Clogged exhaust system causing safety to activate, thus, no heat.

I would look here before going any farther.

Please keep in mind that repair by a tech may cost more that purchasing a new unit.

Hi Tony, The next thing I would checnge would be the coils on top the gas valve. The tend to not open after the get hot. This is a very common problem with the newer gas dryers. I hope this helps you. Let me know if I can help you further.

Thanks

SOURCE: heat cycle stops/

Problem is your gas solenoid coils. When they get worn they will open til they get out then shut. They will need to be replaced.

No heat while drying

If this is a gas dryer. It's possible that the solenoid gas valve has gone bad. One way to determine this is by do a dry cycle and listen to the gas and flame to start. It shoudl sound like a flame starting on a regular stove top. Once the flame starts you can hear the flame. If the flame stops in less than a minute that is an indication that the gas valves has switched off. You need to have the solenoid valve replaced.

Hi i have a whirpool gas dryer that all works fine but after about five minutes the heat will stop and it will just blow cool air. I can stop it and restart and everything starts and works fine and after...

The gas valve coils are closing the valve or the flame sensor is defective. The coils are the most common problem.
There are 2 on top of the gas valve. Turn off the gas and power. Remove the front panel by opening the top lid and then remove the screws from inside the front panel in the top right and left corners.

Dryer starts with heat. After 10-15 minutes, when dryer calls for more heat, here a metal clicking noise, flame does not ignite. When it's clicking, I can look down the back from the top and see a glow....

Your gas valve coils are defective. Part #694539 and 694540 are required. Once the coils get hot they collapse internally and the gas valve shuts off. This is a common problem when valve coils get weak from use.

Dryer heat shuts off

Hello, reading between the lines I'm going to assume you have a gas dryer. This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike

Dryer flame on magtag wont stay lit. Pilot flares up but no flame

Thermocouple is probably bad. The pilot burns and heats a sensor which tells the CPU that the Flame can start, and the thermocouple heating up changes voltage with increase temperature and tells the CPU that the Flame is burning OK. If it is defective, there is no voltage change and the CPU assumes that the Flame didn't start for some reason, (Gas only!) and turns if off for safety. Over and over xx times.
