Connect ipod Hi, I have just bought an apple iPod Classic and it came with a cord to directly plug into home stereo or car stereo. I would like to connect to my Onkyo TX-SR605 so I can play my tunes on the ipod through the Onkyo. I just don't know which application to put the Onkyo on and where to plug the cord into. Thanks for your help

SOURCE: can I connect an ipod to Onkyo tx-ds595?

I connect my iPod to my Onkyo using a stereo cable with mini-plug on one end and RCA L&R outs on the other. Just plug the RCA plugs into the AUX or TAPE IN on the Onkyo, and the stereo mini plug into the iPod and play as usual.

SOURCE: Ipod Dock connection

The Red, green, blue from this adaptor cable
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB128LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MjE4ODM1NQ

go into any of the RGB inputs on the Onkyo

The R/W go into the corresponding inputs for audio, Red and White.

One thing to note,

IF you are running one source RGB like you want to do,
you may have to monitor output the video of the amp RGB to the TV, most of these amps do not like to mix HDMI with anything else.

So If you have one HDMI going out to the TV, this solution will not work. You should look at the manual for the Onkyo regarding what paths can pass at the same time. There is usually a small disclaimer in the HDMI section.

Hope that solves your question.

SOURCE: Onkyo tx-SR605 - how do I use as a processor and

IF and only if, your receiver has connections labeled as "pre-out" can it be connected to an external amplifier.

If it does, then you connect from the left and right channels from the receiver, to the left and right channel on the amplifier.

SOURCE: Can I play my ipod through my Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver?

All you have to do is get a 3.5mm plug to two RCA plugs lead and plug the 3.5 Jack in the headphone socket of your ipod and the two RCA's into an aux imput and away you go. If you get one of the small docks, that will stop the battery running down, but you don't need one.
By the look of the picture on FixYa it looks the RCA's can go in the front socket under the volume control.

SOURCE: connect mp3 on onkyo tx-ds484 ?

buy an attachment at Radio Shack - Ipod cable to 3 rca cables; plug the rca cables into the
CD input; leave the video cable hanging. It is not a charger, so you will need to re-charge your ipod.

Hi, We have a 18 year old Kenwood stereo which is still working perfectly and would like to plug in the ipod Touch is this possible if so how. Many thanks Nicky

"Plug in" as an iPod interface - not directly. ANYthing that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2
and connect it into any available analog input EXCEPT "Phono".

I imagine the iPod manual speaks to that, too, somewhere.

I have had a kenwood 50wx4 stereo head unit installed in my car for about a year now and have had no problems using any function on the system. However, i recently updated the software on my ipod to newer...

I am having the exact same problem with my iPhone 3GS and the 50wx4. I upgraded to a new software version and am getting the same messages. It's very frustrating. I read on the apple forum that if you turn the iPod/iPhone off by holding down the top buttton and home button at the same time, and then plug it into your car stereo whilst still off then the 2 devices will reconfigure (the iPod should come on when you plug it into the stereo). This did not work for me but did work for some others in the forum, worth a try.

Jensen vm9412 and ipod classic

The newer generation iPods don't always work with the iPod connection kits in a lot of the car stereos. Some of the problem is due to the fact that the new generation iPods have been changed and the stereos were manufactured before the players were released so they are not compatible.
I bought my girlfriend a Pioneer car stereo with an iPod control cable, and it works fine with her Nano (not the new generation Nano) and it works with my iPod Photo 60 GB but it does not work with my iPhone 2G and I read that it is not compatible with the new Nanos or the Classics. Check with Jensen to see if the model you have is compatible with the Classic and see if there is a solution to the issue. It may not be compatible with the new video portion of the Classic firmware.

Cheers

Ipod classic video

You need a special 1/8" cord for video output. For example the standard 1/8" cord has 2 black rings on the 1/8 plug, each ring is a channel one for left side and one for right side. You need an 1/8 cable that has 3 rings on the plug, 1 for video, 2 for Left and right audio channels. It dosen't have to be an IPOD brand cable it just needs the 3 black rings.

Good Luck

Jensen VM 9311 iPod Classic

The new ipod will not work with anything other than 2008 alpine products. Apple embedded a chip in the actual cable that tells the ipod that it's ok to pay. What you need is an authentic apple video cable that can only be purchased at the apple store...then hook the inputs up to the video input on the radio.
