Hello Andy, thank you for your post!

By motor, are you referring to the compressor of your refrigerator? The compressor can run for longer periods of time and this is actually more energy efficient. Unlike older refrigerators that turned off and on frequently, newer models save energy from having to start up and shut off repeatedly. For example, diesel-powered trucks conserve fuel and energy and therefore have less engine wear and tear by keeping the motor running; much like newer energy efficient refrigerators. If the compressor is running on a more constant basis; it is maintaining the temperature within your refrigerator, rather than having to cut off and start again to adjust the temperature.

I hope this information explains your concern. However, should you feel that a service technician is needed; you may visit the manufacturer website to find a provider in your area that will look at your appliance.

Best regards, Chris!

Should I set my thermostat fan to auto?

When you set your thermostat to auto, it will automatically shut off when it reaches the temperature you set it at. I personally set mine on auto because I don’t want it to run constantly. This will save you money on your gas or electric bill. The blower will run constantly if you set your thermostat in the on position.

Room fan operates continually

the capacitor is correct for the motor
all it does is supply an over voltage burst to start the motor turning, then to keep it running while the switch is on
if the capacitor was faulty in the original motor then the motor will burn out as that over voltage is not there but the current to run the motor is so the motor over heats and burns
as to the constant running it is important to check how you attached the wires to the new motor as you may have a power wire direct to the motor instead of through the switch control

My plumber says the pump should not run constantly, but should switch on and off. It come on for about 15secs and then off. I want it to run constant, will it create problems?

Assuming you do not build up really excessive pressures and the motor is not straining, running the motor constantly is better than having it cycle periodically. Every time a motor turns on a tremendous amount of juice goes into the motor windings until the motor speeds up and the back emf reduces the current. A constantly running motor will run cooler and last longer.

My karcher k7.85 has lost pressure and the motor runs constantly when switched on ,motor only used to run when trigger pulled in on lance ,there is no leaks. Can any one help please.

Sounds like the pump seals are bad. The manual says to only use these a few minutes at a time, most people try to clean the patio etc with them, run them too long, and burn out the pump seals - don't ask me how I know this.

Pump will not stop running

It is difficult to answer the question with so few symptoms. The question would be whether the pump stops when you open the door? If not, then should checked for correct door switch, otherwise I think you need to replace the main board. If you see diagram bellow you can see that the motor is driven by the triac which is probable remain in the open position and constantly power supply motor. Some model has relay which switch between wash motor and drain motor and there is possible that relay stuck and motor also running constantly.

Hotpoint rla31 motor constantly running/freezing at the back

Your fridge is cooled by the freezer, the thermostat is within the Fridge to tell it to shut off, you might have a bad fan or a build up of frost where the air is sent to the fridge, check where air goes to the fridge when it's running, if you don't feel air flow then something is up, best thing you can do is take everything out and allow the fridge to defrost, at leat 24hrs. then see what happens, if you don't feel air flow after the defrost then you fan is shot and you'll need to replace it.

Blower motor runs constantly

Even when the car is off & the keys out ?

There most likely is a module for the variable
blower speed & A/C control

I don't know where it is but i had that problem with an
86 Deville

The module I had looked like an aluminium heat sink
with fins on top of the electronic part & was behind the
driver side headlight

Keep in mind that was in 1986 not necessarily same on yours

During normal cycle agitation is a constant stop/start

Yes, the timer mechanism should be replaced asap. the timer has a motor that is responsible for the rotation of the device. This motor is damaged, in return, not allowing the normal cycle to initiate and transfer sequential information to the motor properly.

Replacing the timer will correct this issue.
