FREEZER IS FORMING ICE IN VERY BOTTOM AND CAUSING DOOR TO STICK

check the seals around the door cause warm air leaking round door will cause ice to form other wise it may well be a thermostat control but if temps are fine in fridge then it would not be the thermostat hope that is some help

First point of investigation, is to check the door seal. Sometimes new seals get stuck-suction and when opened and shut possibly cause a small tear, lubricate very gently with Vaseline, this will enable the seal to firstly seal properly and secondly not put undue pressure due to suction on new door seals.
If that does not resolve it then have a technician check the thermostat.

I understand that your refrigerator is defrosting but you are getting a patch of ice to form due to water leaking inside the freezer. It may be a moisture build up in your freezer. Which may be caused by the door being slightly opened, when that happens warm air can enter the refrigerator and cause a moisture build up. You could also check to see if your door seal is bad, the way to test that is to place a dollar bill between the body of the refrigerator and close to the door. Pull the dollar bill out, if it sticks it is good, but if bill comes out easily the gasket need to be checked. Hope this is helpful- Matt

When the door is left open alot of condensation forms in your fridge which freezes and ices up. This build-up will gather around your evaporator fan which sometimes stops it from working or sometimes the fan blades scrape on the ice built up.

Best to manually defrost your freezer. Empty your freezer. Turn fridge off. Put a pot of boiling water and close the door. Leave for some time to defrost the ice. You can repeat this a couple of times to defrost the ice. Otherwise you can use a blow-dryer as well.

When you defrost, and turn your fridge back on. Everything should go back to normal.

Check your door gasket. Cleaning the gasket should help it seal again

Check to see if there is any ice forming in the freezer in the bottom. You may have a clogged drain and the water is backing up. Also check to see if the door seal around the freezer door is sticky, if so clean with something that will remove sticky substance. You may have spilled something on it.

The ice will melt during the defrost cycle. Make sure your freezer is cold enough, at least -5, preferably -10. also, if your freezer is not full of food, put some milk jugs full of water in there to take up space. This will keep the temp colder when the compressor shuts off for the defrost cycle. if there is too much empty space, there is not enough mass to stabilize the temperature and keep it cold.

Chances are you have a bad seal around the door if it's leaking from the inside which causes the ice to form as well, or if it's leaking from under the freezer you lave a bad heating element that evaporates the water collected in the pan under the freezer or you have a clogged hose that goes to the pan under the freezer which also causes the ice to form because the water has no place to go. Defrost and try to find a way to blow out the hose that goes from your freezer to the pan under the freezer and that should take care of your problem.

I am not sure if this is the same issue or not.  the flap that closes after you have dispensed ice does not close or seal all the way.  The gasket is worn down. the result is warm air get up into icemaker and warms ice and refreezes in one block so now the dispenser gets blocked.  We had to replace the flap in the door.  bought the part at an appliance part  store (not sears) they were helpfull and looked up the part needed.  Also a sheet of ice forms on the  bottom of the freezer.  When water is dispensed a small bit drips inside freezer in back and runs down to botom of freezer slowly forming a sheet of ice.  Use a hair dryer to defrost and then you must unclog the drain in the back at the bottom of ffreezer to allow it to drian.  Once we finally unclogged the drain we have not had any problems for about 2 years.

It sounds like you are getting large amounts of warm moist air into the freezer. This can be caused by the door being left cracked open or the door seal not sealing properly. Check your door gaskets on both sides of the refrigerator. One other possible is the ice chute. If it is not closing all the way it will cause the same problem. You will get alot of frost forming in the freezer then it will melt when the refrigerator defrosts. Let me know if this helps, and if you have anymore questions.
