I had the same problem on my VPL HS2. I removed the new lamp and reinserted it. Then I plugged the AC cord back in and completed the button sequence in less than 5 seconds - that's less than 5 seconds INCLUDING plugging the AC cord in, It worked and the timer was reset.
Projector on Standby, press RESET, <<=, ==>, ENTER to reset lamp timer.
MY SONY VPL-CS4 Turns on fine. the menu shows up but i cant get the inputs to work i tried all three they worked before so i dont know what happen
3 Select "Yes." You will receive a message onscreen saying, "Lamp Timer Reset Complete!" Select "Yes" again, and press the "Enter" button to finish.
