Sounds like what you said. Time for a motor. The motor has an internal overload and will shut the machine off if the motor runs hot.

The Whirlpool Inglis has had a lot of problems with the door switch. Which would keep the unit from starting.

The door swtch is a known weak point in the Whirlpool Inglis.

My Inglis gas dryer has the wiring diagram glued to the inside if the lower front panel that is removed to access the motor and gas burner area.

The most common cause of this problem is overheating due to airflow restriction caused by lint build up.
There a non resettable thermal fuse in the motor circuit that must be replaced after the the lint blockages are cleaned out..
