The Screen Stays black and the ring turns blue and thats it

My Sansa e250 wont do anything when I turn it on. The blue light comes on but the screen stays black. When it did that I turned it off and plugged it into my computer but the screen still stayed black and the blue ring lit up again, so I unscrewed the back and took the battery out, but the problem is still their. I don't know what to do because I can't listen to my mp3 and I can't add songs to it. When my mp3 player is plugged in my computer I can't charge it because my computer doesn't even recognize the sansa, even though I have it plugged into my computer. My computer says that the device has malfunctioned, and windows can not recognize it. If their is ANYTHING you can do to help me with this problem I'm all ears!!!!

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Best of Luck.

SOURCE: SanDisk 2GB Sansa e250 doesn't turn on

Ok. I'm Mexican and my English is not so well but I have an solution that I'll like to share.

You have to download this file http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1449
and unzip in the Desk of windows . It's name is "pp5022.mi4"

Open the Notepad program and create a file whit name "sansa.fmt". IMPORTANT Dont save it like "sansa.txt" or "sansa.fmt.txt"
(We don't have to put anything in the notepad file, live it blank) and saved in the windows Desk same as "pp5022.mi4" file.
If you don't know where is notepad program go to "star" then "programs" then "accessories" and you'll find it there.

NOW...
First step be sure that your sansa is off
then put the lock switch in the position orange (Sansa Locked)
Then press the Microphone bottom and keep holding, at the same press the menu bottom and keep holding too at the same time.
Wait until you are in the Recovery Mode.
Then conect your sansa to the computer.
And it's gonna appear a new window whit a "version.txt" file.
Take the 2 files that you created in the Desk and drag and drop to the sansa. Then unplug your sansa to the pc.
Now turn on the sansa but Unlocked before.
And I hope that your problem have been gone.
Adios

SOURCE: my sansa e250 wont charge all the way

Well ... i will show you different way to recharge any plear with USB recharge options...

Now... first sorry for my english but... iam from Bulgaria ...
second: you'll need a adaptor from GSM mobile with 5 or equivalent voltage output.Next step: remove part of cover cable on USB cable on mp3/4 and search for red cable it is "+" split with plus on the adaptor of GSM, next ... "-" it must be arround all cables on mp3's USB cable, split with "-" on GSM adaptor. Isolate fine and when you connect GSM adaptor into contact and USB cable into mp3 .. the mp3 will charge fine! Its possible and in manual of SANSA is writen! :) I try and successed!

congratulations - spellsingero, Bulgaria

ok..idk if this will work but it might...first turn off the sansa...then turn the hold switch on (it should turn red). hold down the record button on the side of the player..then while still holding that hold the power button down...but keep holding them untill a screen shows up saying something about recovory mode..itll say to plug in the usb..u could do that..idk it that will work..it it doesnt instead of plugging in tthe usb in the computer..wait about 15 seconds after the recovory mode screen shows up and then hold down the power button for about 15-20 sec...then itll go all black (including the blue light) press the power button again like u would to turn it on...and everything should be back to normal..hope this helps...:)

Blank screen

make sure the battery is fully charged, then disconnect from your computer. Wait a while for the device to cool and try turning it on again. Mine took a few tries but once it sat for a while it didnt fight me again.

Mp3 player wont play songs or anything

Only 2 suggestions here: 1) Make sure your HOLD switch is not enabled. 2) Try to update the firmware If neither of these work, time to send the unit back to Sandisk

I need help with my sansa e250 mp3 player

Hi. Seems like your player may be encountering some corruption. Try this and see if it would help: Switch your Sansa E250 to its Recovery Mode: 1. Make sure the player is powered off 2. Enable the "Hold" switch (located on the top of the player). You would know it's enabled when you see the "orange-colored" surface 3. Press the "Record" button. Make sure you keep it pressed while pressing on the "Menu" button. 4. keep your fingers pressed on these 2 buttons until the E250 LCD screen displays "Welcome to Recovery Mode" 5. Connect your E250 to your computer. (Just a reminder: The minimum Operating System requirements for a Sansa E200 player is Windows XP and above) 6. Double-click on "My Computer" and you would see your Sansa E250 appear as a "16 MB" drive. Note: If you do not see that "16 MB" drive/partition, please repeat steps 1-6. Next, Apply the firmware for the E250 (your player should be connected to your PC at this time): Step 1: Use this link to download the firmware for your Sansa E250 (for better results, please save this file on your "Desktop": http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downl... Step 2: Double left-click on the downloaded file, and follow the on-screen prompts. The file will automatically re-flash your player and format it as well, thereby clearing all possible file/system corruptions that may have occurred. Step 3: When the process is complete, unplug your E250 from your computer, and please make sure you disable the "Hold" switch Step 4: Power up your E250 and 90-99% of the time, it would boot up successfully. Let me know if this helped :)
