Using the USB connection to send the stereo mix to a computer

I have attempted to use the USB connection on a Peavey 32FX mixer to send the stereo mix to a computer for input to REAPER for recording. Reaper recognizes the Peavey mixer and I can select it, but no sound seems to get to the program. How can I activate the sound? Thanks.

Have your tried updating the Peavey software on the desk itself? You can get up to date firmware upgrade from the Peavey website. This tends to solve a lot of problems with this model desk. Can you record direct to a flash drive plugged into the USB port? If not this could suggest a faulty USB port.

You have to insert a track into Reaper "arm" it. If you can't figure it out, I'd suggest posting in the Peavey forums.

How do I fix my mixer 32fx out put

If the mixer output shuts down as you describe, some part is over heating and once it cools down you can turn it back until it happens again. This will not be user serviceable. Here is the link to Peavey Support who can provide a service center contact and schematics.

How do I fix channels with no sound

Mute Switch/Mute-Clip LED :
  • This switch mutes all Aux, Group and L/R sends from the corresponding channel.
  • This switch is equipped with a red LED that will illuminate when the channel is muted.
  • When the MUTE button is out,the LED functions as a Clip indicator that will illuminate at 2 dB below clipping.
  • Muting the channel does not prevent the PFL signal from being sent to the PFL/AFL mix when the PFL Switch (12) is in.
  • This switch mutes its respective Group send from the Group channel.

You can also try, Restoring Factory Settings, in the Utility Menu Options.

Peavey FX Mixer Series Operating Manual

CAUTION:
Restoring the factory settings option resets your mixer's presets, reformatting factory presets and erasing all other user presets. (This option is handy when your venue has permanently changed and all-new presets are required.)
Once confirmed, the presets are not retrievable and will be permanently lost.
Should you select this option in error, a warning screen allows you to cancel the procedure.

I have the peavey xr 8600 and i wanna know how to connect an additional non powerd mixer to it ( i wanna use the peavey as an amp??

That's easily done. Simply connect the left(or right) output of your mixer to one of the channels on the peavey. Use any line input. Since the peavey is a mono system, there's no need sending a stereo mix to it.

If your setup depends on the USB to the computer, I suspect the problem is in the computer, possibly a throughput probllem if you have antio-virus programs running. They take a lot of throughput and often come in at random times.

If you happen to be using a PC with this, check the usage of computer resources from the process listing.

How do I connect monitors?

You run one or more of the AUX outputs to an amplifier then to a passive monitor, OR if you have powered monitors then you just run the AUX's as needed to the powered monitor(s)

You then adjust the "AUX" mix for each channel input to each of the AUX you are using for the monitors as needed.
