It sounds lie the drum has come loose or something is getting thrown around inside the machine as the drum turns. Any ideas on a fix and likely cost.

this is your that are gone these are at the back of your drum on the inside if these are gone then these will need replacing by a professional its a complete strip down aswell as stripping inner and outer drum apart from each other but this is a costly job £125+sometimes more economical to replace the washer only £100 more to get a new washer and have 12months warranty this way also if you have it done you will lose your washer for about 3days. to make sure they have gone take the lid off and look down to the middle of the drum at the back there should be some rusty water marks going down the drum also you can place your fingers to the inside of the washer while having your palm on the front of the washer if it lifts its the bearings from what you say though it will be the bearings m8

Hi.
spin the drum by hand, if it feels rough or is noisy, then you probably have drum bearing failure.
Another possibility is one or more of the drum paddles may have come adrift..
These can be replaced.

SOURCE: drum will not move
Try to remove drum belt, and then turn drum by hand, if it does not turn , then you have either siezed drum bearigs, or some thing jammed between the inner and outer drum
If drum turns freely, then check motor to see if it is free to turn.

It could be a broken drum restraint spring, or a worn or broken. or loose shock absorber.
To check the springs, remove the top cover, and you will see the springs.
Another possibility is the concrete weight could be broken or loose.
You need to remove the lower rear panel of washer to check the shockers and concrete weight.

Thankyou.
Testimonial: "Thanks for your help. In the end it was the front balance weight that had been gradually coming looser and looser and needed fixing pack into place."
Hello gen0313 - From what you are describing it sounds like the unit could possibly have a broken shock/bearing or damaged tub. A certified technician will need to accurately diagnosis the bearing and pulling system behind the drum for repairs.
