Adjust front suspension on a Mongoose XR-75

I bought a Mongoose XR-75 and the front suspension is way too soft. I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a way I can adjust it.

I was afraid of that. I know I have a cheap bike, but I'm working on making the best of what I got.

I dont think you can......because these bikes are made for confort at a cheap price..........

higher value bikes can be adjusted....they have special shocks and you can adjust on either soft or stiff ride.....

unless you wanna get the most of what you got....you can try improvising.....sometimes when i cannot get what i want i improvise and sometimes achieve what i want..........

maybe there is a bike somewere with a similar model of frame but with tougher front shocks and you could get them on this one........

    good luck man...XD

I have the Mongoose XR-100, I pulled all bearings. I clean all bearing races and repack with grease or replace BB. Its my first step in flipping bikes also. Makes a world of difference in the ride. Cheap bike or not.

26 Women Mongoose XR 75 Dual Suspension Bike

Personally, here in AUS bikes brought from Wallmart type department stores are very general purpose, meaning not professional, so the price doesn't hold in fact depreciates quite quickly so if you want to know for selling purposes than ask google, eBay, Amazon with words like used whether or not it has been, like unwanted gifts.

If I had to guess I'de say anywhere between $60 and $90 at best, but please feel free to do your own investigation and good luck.

Hi I have a problem, I've just recently bought a new mountain bike from eBay. It's a mongoose, can you tell me how to tighten the suspension, so it's for road use not cross country. I deflated the air...

Since you've let the air out of the shock you need to go to a Bike Shop for a refill anyway because a normal pump doesn't reach the pressures supplied by a shock pump. While you're there, have them set the bike up for your preferences and instruct you in shock operation.

Loose handlebars on a Mongoose XR-75 mountain bike. I tried to tighten them but they still are loose. Help!

Check the splines on the handle bar. Just loosen the "clamp" and slide the bar over to one side enough so you can tell if the are stripped or not. If they are then replace the bar, if not then reassemble and try to put a littlle extra torque on the bolt.

I have noticed with the 2 of these bikes that I have that the bars do not like to stay tight for long, they tend to work thier way loose about every other time we use them. I just keep tightening them untill the splines strip, then pick up a new bar.

Contact Mongoose for parts info at: www.Mongoose.com under "about" click ask mongoose.

Good luck.

Front suspension to soft on mongoose xr-75 mountain bike

The front forks aren't adjustable, as you probably figured out. You can, however, get harder springs if the springs can be accessed at the top of the fork tube. If not, do what I did on my mountain bike. I bought a better pair of adjustable forks that I found on eBay. It will take a bit of investigation on your part regarding the dimensions of the forks, so you get the correct length and width where the forks fit onto the frame (and the overall desired fork length), but you'll be a lot happier with adjustables.
