If you're using Google Chrome, you go to the upper right... you'll see an icon that is three bars going horizontally.... click on it and it opens up a menu.... go all the way down to where you see "settings"... click it open.... go down the list until you see "Search"... change what you see, which you say is "Ask"... back to Google.... then, just for spite... go over to the right and click on "manage search engine" and delete everything you're not interested in.. like Ask, Bing, etc.. and just leave the "Google (Default)" in bold letters there....

I downloaded a program from the net. I lost google and it was replaced with ASK. How do I get back GOOGLE and get rid of ASK

Add/ remove programs in control panel for windows.look for ask.com and uninstall.sometimes you can get into browser settings and revert default search engine back without uninstalling.always uncheck boxes of downloaded programs as you click through menus because most try to install extra programs that no one wants.if you are using netbook or ios or other operating systems and or devices you can usually search google or youtube to find instructions on removal.

I want to get rid of "ASK" and set Google as my hopmepage

Here's how you can get rid of ASK toolbar and set Google as you homepage:
1.To uninstall Ask Toolbar program from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the "Start" button, then click on the "Control Panel" menu option.
If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for "control panel" .Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control Panel from there.
2.When the "Control Panel" window opens click on the "Uninstall a program" option under "Programs" category. This option is shown by the arrow in the image below. If you are using the "Classic View" of the Control Panel, then you would double-click on the "Programs and Features" icon instead.
3.When the "Programs and Features" or the "Uninstall a Program" screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall Ask Toolbar, Ask Toolbar Updater, Ask Updater and any other recently installed or unknown programs from your computer. That should uninstall Ask toolbar from your computer. You'll also need to remove extensions from your browsers. Refer to this article which gives detailed instructions on how you can remove Ask toolbar from your browser as well as what to do if you can't remove it:
    http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-ask-toolbar-and-search/
For setting Google as home page, once Ask toolbar has been removed, just open your browser and paste this link in the address bar:
    http://www.google.com/homepage/

It'll automatically detect the browser you're using and give you instructions on how to set Google as your homepage.

Google is gone

Ask.com is a pain. You need to go to your browser settings>preferences and set google as the default search engine again. Also check under your list of installed programs (under control panel) for anything with the word "Ask" and get rid of it!

Get rid of ask search

You haven't specified the browser you are using. (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc.)

Normally you have to go into settings and you can edit the default homepage. (Sometimes under 'Start-Up' settings)
