I am assuming you have purchased a new pc with Windows7 and have a DSL internet connection. If so the following tutorial should prove useful. This is a common problem and known bug within the Windows7 framework that they are working to correct. Keep in mind that this fix is only applicable for the Windows7 operating system.

raspppoe.sys" found under
c:windowssystem32drivers folder seems to be the root cause of the problem. Fortunately, we can work around the problem simply by renaming the original raspppoe.sys file to something like "
raspppoe_orig.sys" copying a working file from a Windows Vista system. If you do not have access to a Windows Vista system click here to download raspppoe.sys file (unzip)."

Once downloaded and unzipped you may rename the old rasppoe file as mentioned above by right clicking the icon and choosing 'rename'. Then copy the new rasppoe file you downloaded into the applicable folder. You will find this file in the following directory C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers. Bear in mind, when searching for the file inside the drivers folder, the .sys file extension may or may not be included in the actual name. If the original file is named 'rasppoe' without the .sys file extension in the name, leave this file extension off when renaming and copying as well.
