John Deere 14SB mower with Kawasaki FC150V series - Throttle adj.

John Deere 14SB mower with Kawasaki FC150V series engine.
Cannot change engine speed with throttle lever. The speed of the engine does not change regardless of the position of the throttle lever. Cable is fine and linkage does move.

Hello rfbarrett:

From your Description it Sounds like the Plate that is Attached to the Carburetor (that the Throttle cable Attaches to) Thru Shaft (holds and Moves the Throttle Valve) has Loosened and is Simply Turning on the Thru Shaft and Not Moving the Thru Shaft and Throttle Valve at All.

John Deere 14SB mower... can not change the speed, it keep at the same speed..

I believe your model has a cable control going to the transmission. If that cable is broken it would cause this issue. If you buy the replacement cable, you can change it by removing the pulley from the top of the transmission, then removing the 2 bolts that mount the cable underneath that pulley. Not too difficult if you're a good home handyman.

John Deere 14SBA with Kawasaki FC150V-ES00. Engine will not start. Spark is good, compression is 60+, fuel is getting to spark plug. Won't even fire with starting fluid.

there may be an igniter on it. there is no test for the igniter other than replacing it. it will have a small pink connector next to the carburetor. if you get to this point. The later engines had a coil with an internal igniter i suggest replacing the early style coil with the later coil and eliminate the separate igniter. The later design is more robust.

My 14SB John Deere mower will start but then quits before moving the throttle, changed oil, oil filter, spark plug, new oil, added fuel stabalizer to gax tank. Any ideas???

Hello. You have some winter buildup in your engine. Get a can of starter fluid and a helper. have the helper shoot small squirts of starter fluid into the air filter while you run the mower. In just a couple of minutes the starter fluid will clear your problem. Joe

Does the john deere 14sb have a jet in the carb

Should be a Kawasaki engine with a Mikuni carb, and there will be a removable jet in the center post of the carb.
