Hello Steve,

I know what you are asking for, and yes it can be done but not how you want to do it. The DVD recorder has coded into it software that prevents the DVD recorder from copying copywritten encrypted material (Video Cypher or Macrovision). What you need is another device to prevent the effects of the encryption (a company called SIMA makes devices that do this) the DVR would connect to the SIMA device and then to the DVD recorder.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Unable to tune my liteon dvd recorder DD-A300 to a panasonic tv

I'm a bit confused about what you are trying to do? DVD recorders don't tune in to TV's anymore. They output the signal to the TV via a connector such as HDMI. To record the recorder will need an aerial feed etc, which can be split using a splitter between what feeds the TV and Recorder.

How do you connect dvd dr420 to dish hd reciver with dvr to give me the capabilityto record from my dvr to my dvd dr420? do you have a phone number? how much does it cost to join fixya?

Connect to the component outputs on the back of the dish receiver. This is the output for TV1. Then conncect the ouput of the dvd dr420 to your TV. I am using the HDMI output on the dr420 to connect to an HDMI port on my tv. This results in a 1080p picture on the TV which is sharper than the 1080i from the dish receiver's HDMI cable. My Sony TV has multipe HDMI ports so I can choose betweeen these 2 inputs and can see the differance since Dish only sends 1080p on it's pay for view channels.

No sound on DVR HDMI port, but does work on other HDMI port

Not all HDMI ports support Audio or they do but only one way Audio out or Audio In. If you have an optical connection you can try that.

Can i hook up a hdmi cable from computer to dvd recorder and record stuff from computer to dvd recorder

Hi,
The HDMI port on your pc is an output device. That said, if your dvd recorder has an HDMI input or another input device then you can record from your pc to your dvd recorder. To do this, you will need the HDMI to A/V or anyother cable that your dvd recorder accepts as an input device. Another roundabout method would be to connect your computer to the TV which is probably already connected to your DVR for recording and record via that.
If you send your DVD recorder's model no. i can help you with exact instructions

How do i record from directv hddvr plus to my vcr or dvd

Your going to need a AV connection out of the DVR into the DVD or VCR, whichever you want to record to. Go with the highest quality cable you can because that will define the quality you end up with. If you have an HDMI connection out of the DVR and an HDMI connection into your DVD Recorder, that is definitally the way to go.

I have a DVR from my cable company which I recently replaced. I have the cable coming to the DVR, then out to my RCA DVD recorder, then out from the DVD to my Vizio TV. I have an HDMI cable connection...

IT SOUND LIKE THERE SHOULD BE AN INPUT BUTTON ON YOUR CABLE OR T.V REMOTE TRY CHANGING THE INPUT. ALSO TRY PLUGGING DIFFERENT AUDIO AND VIDEO CABLES BETWEEN RECORDER AND TV. ALONG WITH YOUR HDMI.

Connection/configuration issue: I have a Denon

Just confirming my understanding of your connections :

1). The DVD1800BD output HDMI is connected to AVR3808's DVD-in HDMI.
2). The DVD/VHS recorder output HDMI is connected to AVR3808's DVR-in HDMI.
3). The DVD/VHS recorder input (S-video and L/R Audio) is connected to AVR3808's DVR-out(SVideo and L/R Audio).
Right?

What other inputs have been connect to your AVR3808?
Does the recorder have Component Video inputs?

Please also connect DVD1800BD's output(Component video, S-Video and L/R Audio) to AVR3808s' DVD-in similar inputs and try recording onto your recorder.

Actually, its possible that you may be having a HDMI HDCP communication issue(High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) with the source product (DVD1800BD). First check with the source equipment manufacturer for any updates to their products.

If HDMI video is not passing through your AVR3808, you can connect it thru the alternate connection method I have mentioned above.

If the connections/recording still does not happen with the added anolog cables, then let me know , we can trouble shoot it further.
I hope the above helps.

Please do rate this solution and thanks for using FixYa!

Need diagram to connect Motorola DVR, Panasonic DMR-E recorder, A/V Receiver, and HDTV

Your not going to be able to connect in series (not sure if thats your goal) since your limited by the type of connections you can use. Your receiver is going to have to be switched depeneding on what source you want to listen too. DVR, DVD, etc. HDMI is going to important for your TV connection. Radio Shack has cheap HDMI cables.
So... connect HDMI from DVR to HDTV this will give you sound and picture to TV. Connect DVR optical or coaxial ( RCA if you dont care about surround) to Receiver to give you DVR sound thru Receiver input.
Connect DVD to receiver via optical/coaxial/rca for DVD sound thru receiver (again RCA is not recommended for surround).
Connect Component video to HDTV(or HDMI if TV has second HDMI input) to give you video from DVD.
Connect Yellow video or S-video from DVR to DVD recorder input to allow recording from DVR. Also connect red/white audio to (same) DVD input.
That should cover it.
