Gas on but not at the high frequency needed to cook something
Gas fryer lights but the amount of gas that is let through is enough to catch all three burners on but not in the quantity of gas needed to cook in the fifty pound fryer
Re: gas on but not at the high frequency needed to cook...
If you look at the bottom of the burner you will see the orfices.Get a small paper clip and put it in the orfice (its a very small hole) and see if any gunk comes out.Now light the fryer, let me know.

Hi there.
Hi limits can be bypassed by connecting jumper wire from common to normally close terminals but this should only be done for testing purposes, if proven defective you have to replace it with a good one before using the unit in cooking. Hi limit is the safety device of fryers responsible for shutting the gas valve in case oil temp reaches 450f to avoid oil from catching fire.
Regards.
Hi there.
Check the gas pressure; low gas pressure results in low oil recovery.Check also the fire tubes for soot build up, clean as needed. The quantity and quality of product should also be considered, overloaded and/ or frozen product reduces the oil recovery.
Regards.
Try first to clean the thermopile. If it has accumulated soot/ carbon, it will not sense enough heat from the pilot flame to generate small amount of electricity to energize the pilot valve and main valve of gas valve.
Make sure the thermocouple is deeper into the flame of the pilot light. It needs to reach a high enough temperature to produce a high enough voltage to keep the pilot light lit all the time. I do not think that the main gas valve is bad at all.
Hello. Yes this is normal for this type of fryer, meant more to cook the product, as efficiently as possible, and guzzle gas pretty good. If the orange is near the bottom of the flue, that is pretty good, there is , or should be insulation on the outside of the flue, or if the air gap is large enough, no insulation at all. Not getting near the exhaust pipe is advisable, or you will be burned. The gas pressure is important thought, if the burners are over/under pressured, it will affect the burn enough to damage, and shorten the life of the fry vessel. Call a local authorized servicer and have a check up, will not be free, but will save expense of something not being correct, most places, you pay an hour to check it good enough.
If the unit starts off fine, and then loses some of it's heat, I would suspect that your regulator is freezing up. This can be caused be a bad tank or regulator. You'll have to swap it out to test it.
If the gas supply is good (reg and tank), you need to inspect the heat exchange tubes. Look where the flame shoots through the fryer. Use a flashlight. Look for LARGE amounts of black soot. If it is sooty, blow it out with compressed air. Once you get it cleaned out, you need to add more air to your mix. There should be a disk at the base of the burner.
If you have access to a manometer and orifice drills, you could adjust the flame to it's maximum. But as I said, I expect you have a regulator problem.
Hi bro check the oil level of your fryer and the quality of your oil. The common reason of the hi limit tripped is the oil level is lower than the standard level and the other one is oil dirty need to filter or change oil because they not sense the rigtht actual temp of the oil. If all is ok drain ur oil and check if the sensing valve is broken. Thanks
